Drama Digest

Shirafuji Nao and Kurose Takahito both work for the same web advertising company. They are very competitive in sales and frequently lock horns with each other.

The animosity had started when they were in high school. Nao and Takahito used to date, but one day, Takahito used some very harsh words, which drove a wedge between them. Nao was very hurt and has been unable to fall in love since.

One day, a very popular competition was announced. Reluctant at first, the quarrelsome duo eventually pairs up to participate in it. Their squabbles and petty arguments don’t cease, however, the air begins to clear up between them and their relationship turns a new page after 7 years.

The Feel Good Part

Funny and fluffy, the movie is filled with warm moments that the viewer could relate to and laugh at, especially our committed entourage. Nao and Takahito are the heart and soul of this romantic comedy and they offer a sweet joyride for the viewers.

The Disappointing Factor

Some scenes could have been added to make the drama more well-rounded. Also, I found some aspects of their fighting a bit illogical. Like how their colleagues just went along with their daily tussle instead of feeling that it was disrupting their work. To be honest, HR would simply sit them down to talk their issues out. However, the viewer might find some aspects of the acting exaggerated. Also, the presence of a second lead doesn’t add anything.

In-Depth Analysis

The premise is simple two people who obviously care for each other and are well suited for each other, but they met at the wrong time in their lives. However, love has a way of bringing people together no matter what, so they still end up facing each other where they left it off.

This is a tried and tested formula, however, the story in question is handled with care, so it doesn’t bore the viewer and is very adorable to watch, albeit a little predictable. The male lead’s stoic demeanor contrasts sharply with the female lead’s sweetness and spunk. Their differing natures are the crux of their disputes but it is what makes them so good for each other.

People might expect them to act more maturely because they are older, but older committed people would disagree. I like how Nao and Takahito eventually grow up and see the problems in their relationship. They try actively to solve them and grow closer.

The acting was good and the direction was well executed. The first thing I noticed was how good the main leads looked in their respected roles. The music was very well coordinated.

Star Power

Yamamoto Maika and Itagaki Mizuki are well cast as the bickering Nao and Takahito, who find a second chance at rekindling their old love. Noro Kayo, Akihisa Shiono, Takano Akira, and Keito Tsuna turned in good performances as well.

Overall Opinion

The movie could have been more developed, but it is surprisingly wholesome. It is meant to be watched after a particularly busy day of work, with a cup of warm soup or hot chocolate in hand, and just relax.
