The Feel-Good Part

The fans of historical dramas and romantic love stories will find this drama engaging. All the historic elements, including the costumes, the set, and the entire ambiance were presented in a lovely way that gave a fictitious historical essence. The story of the drama has a smooth flow that keeps the watchers hooked on the drama. It is captivating to watch how Dong Yue goes back to the past with the intent to stop the raging war but all along develops a love interest for Feng Xi. Apart from the plotline, the original soundtrack of the drama is a heavenly blessing to the ears. It beautifies the entire drama by uplifting the zestful relishes.

The Disappointing Part

At some point, it felt that the character of Feng Xi was shown to be quite dominant. On the other hand, the female character could have been portrayed well, and many viewers thought the female lead was a bit weak for a warrior’s character. The drama started with a great beginning and tended to maintain the flow throughout the show but the ending could have been much better.

In-Depth Analysis

Dong Yue travels back in time three times during the Yin Dynasty to stop the world’s destruction and assassinate Lu Yuanton whom she believed was the cause of the conflict. She first encountered Feng Xi on the first return, who was making every effort to correct the family’s wrongs. They helped each other out and later developed feelings for one another, but Dongyue mistook Feng Xi for the manner as he was trying to save his family. The assassination of Dong Yue was the catalyst for the beginning of the conflict. Dongyue chose to believe Feng Xi on the second return, although he could not recall anything. Following a second love affair, Feng Xi abandoned all of his plans and died beside Lu Yuantong. In the third return, she successfully saves Feng Xi and they together defeat Lu Yuantong, leading the drama to a happy and peaceful ending.

Star Power

Many viewers agreed that the male leads, Jin Han (Feng Xi) and Tan Jian Ci (Pang Yu), did complete justice to their characters. The female character Sun Yi was also quite good in her role but could have done better with her character of a strong-willed warrior.

Overall Opinion

Overall, the story, production, cast, and especially the music combined into a drama that can be watched in your free time. However, it could differ according to each viewer’s interest in the historical genre.
