Drama Digest

Tomorrow Will Be Better is a Chinese drama series that narrates the story of two friends Liu Xiaolian and Ding Ge’er, who love each other like sisters. The series focuses on complex human emotions and expresses the thin line between jealousy and sorrow. It focuses on how the two women focus on themselves and their struggles. The deep friendship between them is tainted with toxicity such as jealousy and betrayal.

The Feel-Good Part

The series doesn’t sugarcoat complex emotions and shows them in all their facets. The actors have been commended for their performance. They showcase the victory of good over evil but don’t show that the antagonist is only evil who only commits cruel deeds and is not forgiven till the end. The friends manage to reconcile in the end after the antagonist is punished for her misdeeds.

The Disappointing Factor

There is a lot of melodrama in it which is not suitable for everyone’s tastes. Many cliches are overused. As the story spans over forty-eight episodes, it feels forced and stretched at times. It also comes across as predictable.

In-Depth Analysis

The character of Ge’er is jealous of the attention her friend Xiaolian receives from two popular and rich men. The transformation from a loving friend to a vengeful woman makes a stark contrast. While the two roles seem to be the stereotypical Mary Sue vs Evil Queen, their personalities are three-dimensional and multifaceted.

Star Power

The series stars Chinese actors like Chai Bi Yun, He Ming Han, Li Qian, and Shao Feng. It is directed by Gu Jing.

Overall Opinion

While it is a good drama, it is quite predictable at times. The acting is quite good and realistic. The drama is recommended for people who enjoy watching dramatic serials and like the ending ‘Good triumphs over evil’.
