Drama Digest

To Be a Better Girl is (约定期间爱上你) is a Chinese-origin drama series that hit the television screens on the 19th of November, 2021. Finished under the direction of Ren Zhaoxuan, Du Jin, Ma Ju, and Zhao Xin prepared the script for the screen. The drama revolves around Ruan Meng, who finds it hard to settle in her high school, and Xue Song. Each segment stretches over thirty-five minutes, with a massive total of twenty-four episodes.

The Feel-Good Part

Since the drama series remains set in a high school, feelings related to first love come surfacing for the viewers. Fans swirl in a daze, owing to the push and pull energy between the characters. As their relationship begins with intense fights, the way it turns into love like jelly is intriguing to witness. Moreover, the soundtracks composed for the television lift the standards and suit the atmosphere wanted by the authors.

The Disappointing Factor

Fans are disappointed over a loose ending that does not guarantee any sense of fullness to the audience. We remain in darkness over whether the character continues their love bond beyond high school or not. We find no hints of a possibility of a second season, resuming from their college life.

In-Depth Analysis

As a school youth drama, the drama focuses on the shortness of the beautiful feelings that only exist in one’s school years. Both Ruan Meng and Xue Song start off as each other’s sturdy enemies. However, as the story gaily moves on, Xue Song slowly begins to notice Men’s unnoticed cute side, falling for her altogether. Even Ruan Meng lets go of her prejudices. And she sees Song in a new light. A strong relationship takes off from here.

Star Power

The cast includes Ren Min as Ruan Meng, Chen Xun as Xue Song, Wang Run Ze, Jerron Wu, Wang Tian Yu as Wang Xue Qiu, and Xia Ming You.

Overall Opinion

If you are looking for a light-hearted series, the To Be a Better Girl series is the ideal binge; this weekend for the viewers. With its coming-of-age genre, it became a decent watch on rainy nights.
