The Player is a Thai drama that aired from 2021 to 2022 and is alternatively known as Rak Pen Len Tai. The drama tells the story of a group of high society people whose life seems perfect from the surface but isn’t so in reality. When one of them initiates a game of life, their lives turn chaotic and dark, while escalating to murder, amidst this chaos and murder, the dark secrets of their lives come to the surface.

The Feel-Good Part

The element of suspense in the drama was perfect and will surely surprise you with its unexpected twists and turns. The drama is a breath of fresh air in the sense that it smashed the concept of patriarchal societies brilliantly. The characters are grey-shaded but even so, the writers did an excellent job in writing the traits of the characters which will somehow make you root for one or two of them.

The Disappointing Factor

The major disappointing factor of The Player is the slow pace of the initial episodes, the boring start might convince many viewers to stop watching this drama. However, after a few episodes, the drama took up the perfect pace and will for a fact hook on the viewers till the end.

In-Depth Analysis

The Player is a decent thriller-suspense drama series that delivers what it promises, that is, the suspense! The drama caters to the audience who would like to watch a fun soapy Thai drama without expecting a philosophical or deeper meaning drama. The plot is well written in the sense that it keeps you hooked on with its details in every episode which ultimately adds to the flow of the plotline. The characters are well-written and though each of them has their own demons, the actors portrayed their characters perfectly, though there were moments when the acting was a bit over and unrealistic. The music of the drama is well composed and might even take a place in your playlist!

The supporting characters are played by actors such as Drake Sattabut Laedeke as Mikey, White Nawat Phumphothingam as Fight, May Patharawarin Timkul as Thitapa, and many more.

Overall Opinion

The drama is a decent thriller-suspense genre drama that has its share of good and bad moments. There were a bit plot-holes that could have been avoided but overall, the storytelling is very interesting with the unexpected plot twists which are enough for the viewers to enjoy the series. If you are looking for an entertaining drama to watch with a bunch of grey characters, then this is the drama for you!
