Drama Digest

A cheerful and lively literature major, Zhou Xiao is fond of detective novels. She lives in the world of fantasy, daydreaming about the next plot climax. This female lead finds herself falling for a forensic science major Zhao Fanzhou; however, he is devoted to academics and has barely any time or energy for romance. With his icy and detached temperament, he is the last person expected to fall in love with anybody. Zhao Xiao’s charms, however, are not resistible and he gradually finds himself falling for her bubbly nature. Will both of them be able to balance love and academics, or will they have to go their separate ways? Watch the series to know what challenges they face and whether they are able to overcome them.

The Feel-Good Part

The Love Equations has a satisfactory plot and not much disruption is caused by the short separation of the main characters. The male lead is very straightforward when it comes to his feelings, which adds to the fluttery sense of the show. The specialty of the female lead is that she retains her independence and friendships even after being in a relationship. The family dynamics are portrayed realistically and are relatable to a certain extent.

The Disappointing Factor

One disappointing factor is the uninteresting story of the second male lead. He is adorable and has his charms, but is reduced to being a sidekick. Even the academically focused roommate could have had a better story. Another disappointing factor is the trivial reason that results in breaking-up of the main characters.

In-Depth Analysis

The Love Equations has most things that one could expect from a romance drama. The interactions are super sweet and heartwarming, and the main characters are swoon-worthy. The female lead is modest and the male lead has eyes only on her. On a surface level, the drama is about a bunch of young adults trying to make it through university and learning many lessons along the way. The break-up is a realistic element as young adults generally face such separation while they are under the pressure of academics. Mental health, although slightly, was also touched upon in the series.

Star Power

The independent, strong yet bubbly female lead is an eye catcher, but it is quite evident that she is new in the field of acting; however, her character manages to grow on the audience. The male lead’s performance is skillful, his delivery is on point and his facial expressions are exceptionally good. Their chemistry is organic, relatable and realistic for young adults. The second couple offers another sweet relationship. All other side characters have done a pleasant job and deserve much praise. Without them, The Love Equations would have lost its charm.

Overall Opinion

Overall, The Love Equations will take you on a whole journey of emotions; one will feel disappointed, heartbroken, loved and happy while watching the pleasant series. The plot is somewhat conventional but still sweet. The cute relationships and the light-hearted romance will not fail at melting your heart.
