Drama Digest

The male lead of the show is a workaholic. He spends all of his time working as the CEO of his company and has no time for other things. The female lead of the show is passionate about her traditional embroidery fashion and is determined to get better and achieve her dreams. Things change for both of them when they meet each other. They start spending more time with each other. When the female lead gets the chance to go to Europe to learn more about her work, none of them thinks about sticking with each other as they are both career-driven, but they do feel bad to get separated from one another because they truly liked each other’s company. So, when the opportunity strikes for the male lead to do a fashion show in Europe, he doesn’t let it go.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama feels natural and realistic until some point. Even after making both of the leads passionate about their work, they still manage to make it a good romantic drama. The female lead is not your average clumsy, cute person; she is a career-driven woman who knows what she wants in her life and is working hard to get there. The male lead is a workaholic who is determined to get his company on top. He is not the rude, arrogant male lead. He is a person who respects the choices of everyone. He likes the female lead a lot and is not afraid to show it. The characters of the main leads are praiseworthy.

The Disappointing Factor

Forty-five episodes with forty-five minutes of running time for each episode is a bit too much. The show gets overwhelming at some point because of this. A little less than the number of episodes would have been better.

Also, the show feels a bit too tropey. It has all the cliches you can find in a Chinese drama.

In-Depth Analysis

Sunshine of My Life is a romantic drama. It is a slow-burn romance where the main leads meet each other through their somewhat similar field of work and interests. They both spend time together, learn things about one another, and get close. But the thing that brings them together also breaks them apart. They go their separate ways when opportunity calls the female lead to Europe. But their paths cross again when their similar interests bring them together.

This is a good romance drama that promotes rational thinking. There is no damsel-in-distress female lead and no over-the-top arrogant male lead. They both complement each other. The best part about the drama is that they don’t compromise their careers, no matter what. They both know what they want in life and are working wholeheartedly towards achieving it. And all of this doesn’t mean the show doesn’t have a romance aspect. It has one of the best romances in Chinese dramas. It is precisely what the drama needed, and it is perfect.

Star Power

Both the male and female leads are perfect for their roles. They acted professionally when needed and amazingly when the situation called for it. They both had good chemistry with each other, and they suited the role they were playing. The supporting cast was also good, and the second male lead and second female lead did a great job of irritating the audience.

Overall Opinion

Overall, it is an amazing romance drama. The only disappointing factor is the number of episodes. They are too many. But the drama is good, and it might be worth watching for some people. If you want to watch something in the same genre, you should consider giving this show a try.
