They join forces to fight the intrigue and challenges thrown upon them and in, the process, help their families and the emperor to bring stability and create a Golden Era.

The Feed-Good Part

The first 12 episodes set the tone for the drama and these episodes are the most interesting and absorbing. The chemistry between the lead pair is also note-worthy, and the series could be watched for them.

The Disappointing Factor

The screenwriter has not done justice to the book and has slaughtered the book. The principal characters are stellar in their performances, do not get sufficient screen time and the focus is on the character named Miarong who is not even the lead. In the book, the lead characters are wise as they traverse the trials that they face, but this is missing in the series.

In-Depth Analysis

The story is a historical romance drama which is adapted from a book. The chemistry between the lead pair is remarkable. At the beginning of the series, it is filled with intrigue, but as the series progresses, it loses its focus. The development of the characters is also not etched out well in the series as compared to the book. The influential role of the antagonist which is popular, in the book is missing from in the series.

In the 40 series episodes, the first 12 and the last 2 set the tone for the series.

Star Power

The chemistry between the main leads is best thing about the series and they are aptly played by Ju Jing Yi and Joseph Zeng. The lead cast is supported well by the other cast members.

Overall Opinion

If you are fan of Chinese historical drama, then you can watch it. But if you are a fan of the book, then avoid it unless you have free time to kill.
