Drama Digest

Weaved around the trope of time travel, the series depicts the love story of Lin Miao and Jiao Yang who meet because of a random luck of universe. Lin Miao, a thirty three years old woman transcends through time and finds out that she has travelled ten years back i.e., to 2010, although her age remains the same. In the same series of bizarre events, she is given a mission via a message on her phone. The mission requires her to help Jiao Yang, the vice president of Hong Yu company become the president within three months in order to return back to the future or else she will disappear. Lin Miao commences the mission by applying for the post of Jiao Yang’s assistant which she gets and there sprouts a sweet romance between two people who are opposite in nature. Lin Miao is mature, wise and hard working woman. On the other hand, Jiao Yang is clumsy, whimsical and easy going guy. This enables them to compliment each other’s personalities and help each other become the best version of themselves, especially Lin Miao who stands with Jiao to tackle with conspiracies created against Jiao in the company.

The Feel-Good Part

The chemistry between the two main leads is one of the strongest aspect of the series. Their romance is sweet and takes time to build. The characterization of both the leads is not stereotypical as in a lot of Chinese dramas where the male lead is an arrogant, smart and perfect boss who cleans the mess his troublesome, annoying, ignorant female assistant makes. Both the characters are strong and are portrayed well by the actors. The OSTs are pleasing to hear and unlike many Chinese dramas, this drama is shorter too.

The Disappointing Factor

The ending of the drama has many visible loopholes. It does not justify the presence of two different personalities of the same person Lin Miao. How does one person exist at the same time as two different individuals, living two different lives? The plot is half baked and if you are meticulous and rational, the ending might leave you unsatisfied. Besides, the antagonist of the drama is a bit annoying in most of the parts. His role has not been worked upon and seems a rather unnecessary and overdramatic character without a clear  explanation to his actions. The plot is loose and business centric. Hence it may not cater to everyone.

In- Depth Analysis

The drama takes into account, various sides of business world where there is constant fight for money and power. The male lead, Jiao yang lives under the pressure to prove his worth to his family. There are conspiracies which he must deal with in every step. But the series also shows the power of love and how it beats every challenge put to it.

Star Power

The cast of the drama is a strong aspect of the series. Li Hong Yi and Shi Shi are popular actors and are loved widely for their cute chemistry in the drama. Other actors such as Wang Yu and Huasen Chang (who plays the role of villain) have also done well.

Overall Opinion

The drama is a feel good, one time watch with light romance with business as it’s backdrop. If you like watching fateful romance, then this might be a good option for you. Remember – this drama demands a rather laid back approach when you can just enjoy the series and not bother much about the details and reasons.
