The Feel-Good Part

According to the producers, the TV show employed food as a thread to advance the main plotline set it apart from other dramas, and gain a larger audience. It exemplifies excellent community ideals and morals. The village is likewise well-kept and organized. Furthermore, the locals are amusing.

The Disappointing Factor

The series has a bit of communist propaganda, which may be misleading and offensive or boring to some. Some of the characters are very dislikeable. Sun Guang Ming also has a self-centric attitude throughout a few episodes. Other than that, the drama is decent.

In-Depth Analysis

Sun Guang Ming, the secretary of the Bureau of Commerce’s Youth League Committee, was sent as the first secretary to Dahuaishu Village to improve grassroots training. He wanted to preserve the results in the village and finish the tenure responsibilities quickly. Still, due to the “poisonous vegetable event,” he was forced to remove the village, which was a difficult task. Sun Guang Ming faced his first major crisis when a reporter, Xu Hong, who recorded the “poisonous vegetable incident”, was compelled to return to Dahuaishu Village to correct the name. Villager Liu Yu Jiu also returned to the village at this time, eager to exploit the weakness of Liu Shi Rong, the Liu family’s father, and persuades him to accept the hamlet’s evacuation. The village’s evacuation appeared to be a near certainty. The locals unexpectedly organized a farewell. The grandmother sobbed as she said farewell to the Unknown Soldier’s grave, which she had been quietly caring for decades.

All of this moved Sun Guang Ming, who was intent on keeping Dahuaishu Village. He built a market with organic vegetables, attracted tourists, and finally marketed Dahuaishu Village on the Internet.

Star Power

The production team has done a great job with the fantastic direction. The drama also has intriguing points wherein it showcases more about the countryside life in China.

Overall Opinion

The drama showcases countryside life and is decent to watch. There are a few arrogant characters, though; however, the plot is good.
