Drama Digest

Li Qianyun is a hardworking and talented man. However, due to childhood trauma, he has a severe fear of heights. But to fulfill his mother’s dream, he puts his fear away and tries to become a flight attendant. In his quest, He Xiaoxiao helps him. She is also a flight attendant and is ten years older to him.

While trying to overcome his fear and rise in the field of aviation Li Qianyun becomes attached to He Xiaoxiao. The drama follows his journey to success and their love story.

The Feel-Good Part

The romance is great. The ten-year-old age gap between the leads might seem weird initially, but the actors make it work. The main leads have great chemistry. The episodes are not too short or too long, hence, it is not too boring to watch, and neither does it seems draggy. The side characters also try their best. The second female lead, who is a food blogger, gets entangled with one of her fans who turn out to be a rich heir, talk about being lucky!

The Disappointing Factor

In a world where new dramas are released left and right, and romance dramas are more than there are stars, it is very difficult for a romantic Chinese drama with rookie actors to stand out. This drama is also a victim of it’s competitions. There are major plot holes in the drama that disappoint the viewers. It is like the director was focused on the romance part and did not care about the main plot, that is, the male lead’s fear of heights and his quest to overcome it. He pretty easily gets over his fear once he meets the female lead and begins his journey of courting her.

In-Depth Analysis

Flying mode of Love is every Chinese drama you have watched when you had nothing else to do. It is not a bad drama, it is just too cliché. One would think that the ten year age gap will be something to focus on, as the society, specifically Asian society is not too fond of such a prospect, but the drama treats it too lightly. There is not any different plot, no character growth, and no major plot progression. The romance and the chemistry of the main leads are great, but sadly, not enough.

Star Power

Hou Fu Ming plays the role of the male lead Li Qianyun. He was seen previously in a few movies and dramas as a supporting actor. Lu Yi plays the role of He Xiao Xiao. She is starting her acting career with this drama. The lead actors, despite being rookie actors, have performed very well and brought life to their roles. The supporting characters are Chen Qi and Dai Ting Rui.

Overall Opinion

Flying mode of Love is a light-hearted romantic drama that can fill your time if you have nothing else to do and do not want to watch anything serious.
