Dongsi Pailou Dong is a historical Chinese drama. It is a romantic-comedy drama that takes place in the 1920s to 1940s. It is also known as ‘East of the four arches of the east’. The drama depicts the social, economic, and cultural situations of early China. All the actors did their maximum to convey the idea. The dram is about the main character, Beilie Halan who is playful and a coward. He belongs to the former Qing Dynasty. He was born in 1909, inside a palace in the capital. He is a fun counsellor, whose destiny changed in a moment. Drama includes his romantic relationships, childhood sweetheart, and how his life turned after an event. It happened after he obtained a secret record of the treasures of imperial tombs.

The Feel-Good Part
The drama is a wonderful Chinese historical comedy. All the romantic scenes, as well as the comedy, are amazing. The scenes he tries to figure out the secrets are great. The chemistry between the main leads is wonderful. There are lots of twists and turns in the story.
The Disappointing Factor
Some of the scenes were confusing. It lacks realism and the story content is random. All the other elements are great.
In-Depth Analysis
Halan was born in 1909. He is childhood sweetheart with Xiao Lue Yu , with whom he is madly in love with. He also falls in love with imperia cuisine, when he entered the palace as a study companion. He becomes friends with godly cook Xie. He was supposed to get engaged with Tong Li Hua, daughter of Marquis Tong. But he refuses to get engaged to her and he expresses his feelings toward Xiao Lue Yu. He clears his desire to get married to her. At the same time, Eunuch Wang was stealing the secret records of the imperial tombs. As we said, Halan’s life changed after he got a secret record of the treasures of imperial tombs. Godly cook Xie, hides the record stolen by Wang, in Halan’s food. Meanwhile, Wang Si Jia, who is Wang’s godson was also behind this treasure.
The director and story writer is Guo Boa Chang. It includes many eye-catching elements like peking opera, gourmet food, adventures, gangsters and also struggles of ordinary people.
Star Power
The show presents the best-talented actors and team. Hao Lei is a strong character in the drama. Besides, Fu Da Long, Yu Zhen, Wang Da Qi, Xin Yue, and Li Guang Xu were incredible. They contributed their maximum to the success of the drama. The accent of the actor is noticeable. They were able to destroy the sense of separation between the audience and the plot.
Overall Opinion
It is a great historical drama that depicts ancient Chinese situations beautifully. Great story and wonderful actors. For those who love Chinese periods and stories, it will be a nice recommendation.
