Drama Digest

What if you take credit for something that is not yours? What if the person you love leaves you over your principles? What if you stop recognizing yourself?

The series delves into these questions and more. It is about a struggling novelist Zhang Yen whose works have been rejected by publishing houses and online platforms. His works are unable to capture their imagination.

Yen is highly discouraged, and his only solace is Yinxia, his girlfriend who is his constant support. But deep down, he fears that she will leave him too.

While surfing the Internet, Yen discovers a thriller that describes a person’s weird yet fascinating experiences. He searches for the author but cannot find the person. He decides to publish it as his work which becomes an overnight success.

In the process, he loses Yinxia who cannot accept his deceit. And the original author reaches to him for recognition which he refuses as he cannot return to his impoverished days.

The cat and mouse game begins between him and the author.

The Feel-Good Part

The visuals and story-telling are presented in a different and exciting manner. The duration is just apt for the web series, and the suspense is thrilling.

The actor’s performances are also good since they have shot the scenes themselves. It is challenging to act when there are no co-actors in the background.

The Disappointing Factor

The climax is disappointing, and the focus should have been on the hide-and-seek game between Yan and the author.

In-Depth Analysis

Yan is a struggling author leading a poor and challenging life. His works are rejected by publishing houses and online platforms. He is deeply saddened about his life, but the one person that he keeps him going is his girlfriend. She is his constant source of support and solace.

As Yan is searching for inspiration on the Internet, he chances across a story by an unknown author. In desperation, he showcases the work as his own. The story is an instant success, and his good days begin.

In the process, he loses his love as she cannot accept his dishonesty. Yan also has to fight a battle as the original (mysterious) author reaches to him for credit. He refuses. Both start a game of wits.

The series is divided into three main themes. The first is the introduction and planning. The second is the game of wit between Yan and the original author. The third is their confrontation. The best piece is the second one which should have had more focus.

The series is about Yan, and his fight for his reputation and love.

Star Power

All the actors have done a fabulous job. The unique feature is they have shot all their shots on their own.

Sun Rui plays the role of Yan and A-Joe Jiang plays Zheng Xiong.

Overall Opinion

If you love thrillers, then it is a must-watch.
