Some actresses have also received awards from President for their sense of duty and humanitarian work. It’s their hard work and acting skills which aided them to receive such valuable awards. From veteran actresses Yeon Yuh Jung to Han Hyo Joo, here’s the list of top 10 actresses who have won both our hearts and precious awards. Some of them have also won International awards, creating history in the South Korean Entertainment Industry.

1. Shin-Min Ha

Shin-Min, Ha popular for ‘My Girlfriend is a Gumiho’, received Special Jury Prize for Gyeongju at the 2015 Wildflower Film Awards. She also won ‘Outstanding Korean Actress,’ for ‘On My Venus’ at the 2016 Seoul International Drama Awards. She also won state honors such as Presidential Commendation Award on 2011 Taxpayer’s Day.

She has recently starred in hit slice-of-life dramas like ‘Hometown Cha Cha Cha’ and ‘Our Blues.’

2. Kim So-Yeon

Kim So-Yeon gained international fame with her character Seo Jin in ‘Penthouse,’ last year, 2021. She received ‘Daesang’ (Grand Prize) for her role in Happy Home at the 2016 Korea Drama Awards. Later in 2021, She has once again received ‘Daesang’ (Grand Prize) for her role in Penthouse at the SBS Drama Awards.

She was confirmed for the female lead in the second season of Tale of the Nine-Tailed with actors Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum.

3. Kim Hee Sun

Kim Hee Sun won many prestigious awards. She has won ‘Daesang’ (Grand Prize) for her role in Lady in Dignity in 2017 at Asia Artist Awards and My Mister Q in 1999 at SBS Drama Awards. She also received Prime Minister’s Commendation Award in 2005 at National Tax Service.

4. Jun Ji Hyun

Hallyu star undoubtedly received many prestigious honors for her dramas. She received ‘Daesang’ (Grand Prize) for ‘My Love From The  Star’ in 2014 at Baeksang Arts Awards and SBS Drama Awards. The South Korean actress Han Hyo Joo received ‘Daesang’ (Grand Prize) in 2010 for her role in ‘Dong Yi’ at MBC Drama Awards. She also received ‘Outstanding Korean Actress ‘ for Brilliant Legacy in 2010 at Seoul International Drama Awards. Hyo Joo also received Presidential Commendation in 2011 at Taxpayers Day for being a sincere and honest Taxpayer.

6. Kim Hye-Soo

The veteran K-drama viewers must be aware of the popularity of the actress Kim Hye-Soo and her commendable acting skills. She has received ‘Daesang’ (Grand Prize) thrice and that too for three different projects. 7. Lee Bo Young

Lee Bo Young ‘Daesang’ twice for the same drama ‘I Can Hear Your Voice in 2013 at both Korea Drama Awards and SBS Drama Awards. She also received Television Actor of the Year in the same year.

She is also famous for ‘My Daughter Seo Young’ and won ‘Daesang’ in 2013 at Korea Drama Awards.

8. Yeon Yuh-Jung

The veteran actress Yeon Yuh-Jung bagged many prestigious national awards. However, she is the first Korean actress to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2021 for Minari.

10. Jeon Do Yeon

She is the first and only actress who has been awarded  ‘Best Actress’ at the 60th Cannes Film Festival for the role of a helpless and broken woman who has lost everything in Secret Sunshine.

She has recently starred in ‘Lost’ K-drama.
