Weekly music shows are sites of great entertainment for Korean music lovers. However, in recent years, the hosts of the music shows have become an attractive point. Oftentimes, MCs attract more weekly views for their shows than usual. Their chemistry, hosting skills, and visuals can come together to provide top-notch entertainment.
1. Soobin And Arin (Akkong)
The list cannot start off without the iconic duo of TOMORROW X TOGETHER's Soobin and Oh My Girl's Arin. They took over the role of "Music Bank President" in July 2020. Their duo name on the show was Akkong. They were known for their wonderful chemistry both on and off-screen. Immediately upon release, their MC-special performance of Oh My Girl's Dolphin went viral on various social media sites. The performance video now has 34 million views, which is higher than any previous MC performance. The two of them were also well-loved by all the artists who visited Music Bank. In a recent Weverse Live, Soobin said, "...We were MCs during COVID-19, and neither of us missed a day. Undoubtedly, they provided a lot of energy and joy to all the fans stuck at home during the pandemic.
2. Lee Know, Minju, And Jungwoo (WOOJUHO)
Lee Know, Minju, and Junghoo were the iconic trio for Music Core. They were together for about two years before Minju stepped down from her position in January 2023. They started together in January 2020, and Stray Kid's Lee Know and NCT's Jungwoo remain MCs with Nmixx's Sullyoon. The three showed great chemistry on stage and quickly became famous for their sibling-like relationship. Together, they were called WOOJUHO. In an interview together, they stated that they have a group chat to ask each other how they are doing.
3. Eunchae And Chaemin (ChaeChaeCheck)
Lesseerafim's Eunchae and actor Chaemin are the 39th pair of Music Bank MCs who have gathered much love for their cute and lovely chemistry. Both of them are introverted, but it is not visible in their interactions on stage. Their pair’s name is ChaeChaeCheck. Eunchae has her own show on KBS called Eunchae's Star Diary, where she interviews a few idols every week. Recently, Chaemin had gone there to promote his new drama. The episode was sweet and showed much of the sibling-like relationship between the two. They've also collaborated on two special stages together: Bokseoksoon's Fighting and Entertainer.
4. Shin Ye Eun And Bomin (Ye-Bbo)
Shin Ye Eun and Golden Child's Bomin were Music Bank MCs from July 2019 to July 2020. The two of them have gathered a lot of attention since they starred in ATEEN. Their pairing name was Ye-bbo they were a pair of "darlings". Their sweet relationship shone throughout their year together. Both were very emotional on their last day together at Music Bank. On stage, Bomin maintained his cool to comfort Ye-Eun yet after getting off stage, he broke down in front of his members.
5. Yeonjun, Jeongeui, And Beomjune (jjunijjun)
In 2022, Inkigayo announced their new MC trio— TOMORROW X TOGETHER's Yeonjun and the actors Roh Jeongeui and Seo Beomjune. The three started with a special performance of BTS' Boy With Love, which was adorable and charismatic. However, their chemistry was not limited to the stage. They developed a closer bond and often shared pictures, videos, and other behind-the-scenes snippets with each other. Even now, after Beomjune and Jeongeui have stepped down from their positions, the three continue to update fans with pictures of hangouts. Yeonjun is still an Inkigayo MC. He is currently hosting the show with actress Jihyun and Wonhak from BOYNEXTDOOR.
6. Irene And Bogum
If we are talking about Music Bank MCs, it would be wrong not to mention the iconic duo, Red Velvet's Irene and Bogum. They had explosive popularity among Knetz and increased Music Bank viewer ratings by 2.4%. They were also named 'The Legendary MC Duo' of weekly music shows. Their chemistry made people think they might be dating, thus rousing much excitement among fans. When the two of them expressed their desire to step down, it was the Music Bank producers who did not wish to let go of them. Bogum and Irene changed the scene for idol hosts at music shows.
7. Moon Sua, Nana, And Tsuki
MBC manage two music shows: Music Core and Show Champion. In February of 2023, Billlie's Moon Dua and Tsuki and Woo!ah!'s Nana became MCs of Show Champion, which takes place every Wednesday. The three bring a lot of cuteness and positive energy to the show. Fans joke that Moon Sua 'inherited' her position as an MC because, previously, it was her brother, Astro's Moonbin, who hosted the show. All three MCs have their own unique charms.
8. Wonyoung
Jang Wonyoung was a former Iz*One member who debuted in 2021 in IVE. She has been in the industry since she was very young and is appreciated for her talents and visuals. She has excellent vocals, dance, and stage performance, and her MC skills stand out too. She started her MC position at Music Bank with Enhypen's Sunghoon. While Sunghoon stepped down after 11 months, Wonyoung continued to host the show with various MCs until she was paired with Chaemin.
9. Mina
Kang Mina was a member of I.O.I and Gugudan. She was an MC for Music Core from 2018 to 2020. She is energetic and sunny. Mina has shown great chemistry with various co-hosts throughout her term. She has hosted with Stray Kids' Hyunjin, NCT's Mark, SF9's Chani, and various special MCs.
10. Miyeon
Miyeon is a member of the girl group G-idle. They rose to popularity after their win at Queendom and have had several viral hits in Korea. She has been a host at Mnet's MCountdown for over two years, sharing the stage with various co-hosts. Recently, she has been joined by MONSTA X's Joohoney.
