1. Leslie Cheung

Leslie Cheung is a singer and actor born in 1956. During his 26 years of career, he worked in a lot of dramas and films. In 2003 he committed suicide by jumping off the 24th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. He was diagnosed with severe clinical depression. His fans were devastated after hearing this news.

 

2. Shawn Yue

Shawn Yue Man-Lok is a Hong Kong singer and actor. He was a former model and has starred in various films like Internal Affairs II and Jiang Hu. He faces the problem of Panic Disorder. He had a panic attack on a flight to New York and was tranquillized by a foreign doctor so that he could complete the journey without panicking. He is still suffering from this problem but is getting proper treatment regarding this.

 

3. Kara Wai

Kara Wai Ying-Hyung is an actress well-known internationally. During the peak year of her career in the 1970s and 1980, she appeared in a lot of dramas and films. She revealed that she suffered from depression in 1999 when her career was low. At the age of 40, she even attempted suicide. With the help of relatives and friends in 2003, she began to recover.

 

4. Sammi Cheng

Sammi Cheng Sau-man is a Hong Kong actress and singer born in 1972. In the 1990s and 2000s, she was one of the biggest Pop icons. In 2013 during an interview, while promoting her movie, she opened up about her struggles regarding her mental health. She faced this issue for three years since 2005. She said that before also she was very negative but after this period she started gaining a more optimistic perspective.

 

5. Kimi Qiao

Qiao Renliang, known as Kimi Qiao, was a Chinese actor and singer who has worked in many films and dramas. He suffered from depression for a long time and in 2016 he was found dead in his apartment at the age of 28. The police investigation confirmed that it was suicide because of depression.

 

6. Louis Cheung

Louis Cheung is a Hong Kong actor, singer and songwriter. He got married in 2007 to a famous actress and both of them rose to fame together. Soon he started getting hate from his wife’s fans as they said she was earning more than him. He revealed in a talk show that he went into depression due to this same reason. With the help and support of his wife and proper treatment, he overcame this problematic phase.

 

7. Lesley Chiang

Lesley Chiang is a Canadian singer, actress and songwriter born in 1986. She went into depression after the end of her relationship and also thrice has tried to commit suicide. She then went to therapy and started exercising, meditation and journaling which helped her overcome this phase. She is now working as an activist and trying to raise awareness of the importance of mental health.

 

8. Cui Yongyuan

Cui Yongyuan is a Chinese producer, television personality and social media commentator. He is the host of a very popular talk show Tell It Like It Is and is very popular among the audience. During an interview, he admitted that he suffered from severe insomnia and depression. He even needed 24-hour surveillance not to harm himself. He however was able to overcome the situation by undergoing proper care and treatment.

 

9. Fiona Sit

Fiona Sit is a Hong Kong actress and singer. At the young age of 18, she entered the music industry and got small screen references.  In 2008 she said she suffered from some severe depression and sometimes even had suicidal thoughts. For this, she even went to rehabilitation to get treatment which help her change her perspective towards life.

 

10. Stephen Chow

Stephen Chiau Sing-chi, known as Stephen Chow is a filmmaker, actor and comedian known for Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer. He is considered a perfectionist in his field. He was very shy when he was young. It was said by his co-workers that he has temper issues and it was also admitted by him that there was a period when he was struggling with his mental health.
