Drama Digest

Mikoto Shiratori is fired from Mitsuhoshi Bank as a badminton player after he loses a match. He was a child prodigy in badminton but could never recover from a major loss in a high school competition. Now he is recruited by Sunlight Beverage’s corporate badminton team, where he has to work in the sales department during the day and practice badminton in the evening. There he befriends Tatsuru, who has the opposite personality from Mikoto and is the best badminton player in their company.  Though the arrangement is not suitable, Mikoto is ready to move on and is determined to bring his life back on track.

But as the story moves on Mikoto is shown struggling with his present life and he starts questioning his decision to join Sunlight Beverage in the first place.

The Feel-Good Part

The mental health aspect shown in the drama is incredible and how the main lead is determined to get over his past trauma is inspiring. Everyone has their struggle and story, we never know what turns life would take at which point, but sitting and grieving without doing anything will not solve the problem. The good part is Mikoto took his time to cope with his problems and decides to move on. The important part is that at least he is trying.

The Disappointing Factor

The main lead has some sort of power called foresight which is quite unbelievable because only Mikoto has this power. It is difficult to understand if the directors wanted to add a little bit of fantasy aspect to the show, because if they wanted to then they should have given some sort of power to the other characters also. It just gets a bit unrealistic.

In-Depth Analysis

Ryman’s club is a mix of corporate life and badminton. Although being a child prodigy at badminton, Mikoto is not playing up to his potential because of some past incident and his fellow mate getting injured in a doubles match. He stopped playing doubles and started playing singles for Mitsuhoshi Bank, but cannot play up to the expectations.

Despite being fired from Mitsuhoshi Bank and being mentally broken, Sunlight Beverage recruits him, where he meets Tatsuru, who somehow convinces Mikoto to start playing doubles. Working during the day and practicing at the night gets stressful, but Mikoto faces every challenge that comes his way and learns from his mistakes.

Star Power

All the characters in this anime are exceptional. All the main characters have a solid background story. Mikoto and Tatsuru will just compel you to stick with the show.

Overall Opinion

It is a great show with a very unique and intriguing plot. the corporate world x badminton concept is just amazing.
