Anime Digest

Fifteen-year-old Yuna receives a bear costume from her favourite game, World Fantasy Online’s administrators, making her character significantly more powerful. A young boy named Kai bursts into the adventurer’s guild in Crimonia in a desperate search for someone to help his village from a black viper. Yuna defeats it and finds herself transported to another in-game world that prevents her from returning to reality. Later, she helps Fina from a wolf, and they eventually become partners. Further, with Lurina, the magician, Yuna heads off to subdue fifty goblins. She also ends up rescuing an orphanage, a trapped bird, and an army as a few of her other adventure expeditions. Yuna’s reputation quickly rose due to her bear attire and fighting powers, and she was given the nickname “Bloody Bear”. She eventually decides to accept her new life to take on the adventures.

The Feel-Good Part

The story has jaw-dropping twists and interesting anecdotes to captivate the audience. At the end of the series, with the help of Noire and Gentz, Yuna and Fina finally vow to be together. This makes it a happy ending, leaving the readers content and satisfied. Kuma Kuma Bear is a relaxing anime with a sense of mystery and a good end-credit song.

The Disappointing Factor

Kuma Kuma Bear is a predictable, slow-paced show. The writing felt a little weak at some points, which seemed to be covered by unnecessary plot twists and action scenes. The story could’ve been a tad bit better because this is essentially a typical isekai protagonist with extraordinary powers. Moreover, the protagonist Yuna has no definite personality apart from her costume and superhero capabilities.

In-Depth Analysis

In her first meeting with Atla, Yuna questioned about her being a brothel worker due to her unconventional attire. The series contains a few intense action scenes, which make it a PG-13 show. The show also includes humor and mildly violent scenes, but most importantly, focuses on friendship and justice. It doesn’t have a complex plot or characterization, which bodes well for the reader. A simple story about a girl in a bear costume, which she later realizes is not a fantasy world, but reality.

Star Power

The voice of the protagonist, Yuna, is given by Kawase, Maki, and Waki, Azumi is the voice behind Fina. Their performances add an extra oomph to the drama. No sound effects are uncoordinated, and the animation is done superbly.

Overall Opinion

Kuma Kuma Bear is a feel-good anime with superb writing and an appealing plot. It also adds hints of comedy elements along with serious, informative scenes. If you are interested in a seasonal cliché fantasy, we recommend the show. Eagerly wait for season 2 to catch what Yuna is up to next!
