Drama Digest

Suwara Doge is a persistent pervy man. His motto in life is that if you grovel enough, everything you want will come true. In his quest to see the naked bodies of all the girls in his school, he goes to each one, kneeling and begging for it. While he continues to do this to the cutest and hottest girls in the school, he is greeted with embarrassment, astonishment, and disgust. But no matter the consequences, he continues to do so. Not even his low social standing will stop him from getting what he wants.

The Feel-Good Part

This anime takes a POV approach. Something new in the ecchi, harem genre. It is an interesting POV since the focus shifts entirely on the girls since the main character is just the camera and a voiceover.

The Disappointing Factor

Ecchi as a genre is problematic at best. However, this anime takes it a step further and just goes creepy. There’s not much to show beyond the nudity and objectification of women. With a time frame like 3 minutes per episode, there is not much you can even do in terms of storyline, meaning you are left with only the weird sexual moments that are more often than not very one-sided. The dialogue is bland, the animation is stale, and there is not much enjoyment here. It’s just pure fanservice.

In-Depth Analysis

There are a lot of arguments on the existence of the ecchi genre in modern times. But there is a possibility that you can do much more with the genre than just present us with shock factor and sexually and lewd imagery. Dogeza does not do anything revolutionary aside from its POV format. There is nothing you can take from it or nothing you can take away from it. It is awful.

Star Power

There are several voice actors in this anime, such as Miyu Tomita, Juri Nagatsuma, Yui Ogura, and so many more. Perhaps the star of this show is Tomokazu Sugita, who plays Suwaru Doge, the faceless protagonist of the series. Tomokazu Sugita is a well-known comedic talent and funny man, as well as an author and voice actor known for his deep bass voice. He has also starred in several famous anime such as Gintama, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Attack On Titan, and many more.

Overall Opinion

Is it hard to escape the problematic nature of this anime? Absolutely. Is it worth watching? It depends on what you are looking for. If you want to see something that uses Ecchi innovatively and creatively, this is not for you.
