Drama digest:

This is a story of the protagonist, Iroha getting her wish of treating her sister granted in exchange for becoming a magical girl who fights evils. This is the second season of the show that takes us further into the story, which we as left behind in the first season.

The feel-good factor:

The story begins with high-quality animation for at least the first two episodes. The character designs are cute and fluffy.

The disappointing factor:

The second season is a pretty confusing one. The writers intended to add a lot of storylines, and hence the show became rushed and crowded with various stories. There is little to no character development and the characters have been given stupid backstories. Moreover, the most important part left undisclosed in the first season was expected to be discovered in the second one, which did not happen,  and hence constituted for a big disappointment. This part was finding the truth behind Ui’s disappearance.

In-depth analysis:

The story begins with a mysterious white creature named Kyubey, who is known to capture girls from their original cities and make them reside in his city called Kamihama, in exchange for granting their wishes. In the first season of the show, he captures the protagonist of the show named Iroha Tamaki. Iroha is a 15-year-old school girl with pale pink hair and is a shy person. Iroha accepts Kyubey’s offer in exchange for getting the wish of her little sister, Ui Tamaki, getting cured, granted. But to get their respective wishes granted, the girls need to become magical girls and fight the evil characters called witches. Iroha defeats all the evil powers with her intelligence and strength but in the process, she forgets about the desire she had made. Eventually, Kyubey also forgets Iroha’s wish. The first season revolves around Iroha remembering her wish and setting out on a mission of learning the entire truth and getting her wish granted. Iroha also has some other acquaintances, such as Yachiyo Nanami and kuroe. Iroha becomes close friends with both these girls having different personalities. The second season focuses more on Kuroe’s side of the story. As Iroha remembers things, her sister Ui mysteriously disappears, and this story continues in the second season. In this season, Iroha has to fight more witches, who are much more powerful than the ones she has fought before. In order to get her to wish granted, she needs to defeat them.

Star power:

As there were a lot of characters already in the first season, there was not enough time to explain. In this season, some more characters were added, which created a complete mess and did not let any particular character shine.

Overall opinion:

The story is a good one with no up-to-the-mark animation, characters, or story development. A lot of viewers are of the opinion that if someone did not like the first season, they’d not like the second season too as they’re almost the same. So, if someone wishes to watch this show, they can at their own risk.
