Drama Digest

When it comes to major plot twists and complex plots, it has always been Anime. As many of us know, Bungou Stray Dogs was a huge hit amongst the people seeking supernatural and comprehensive scripts.

But who knew a detailed and gore anime could also be cute and fun to watch. Bungou Stray Dogs Wan is a spin-off of the Netflix anime Bungou Stray Dogs. This spin-off gets developed as a chibi version of the characters. The manga of the same name gets illustrated by the artist Neco Kanai. The story revolves around the main lead Atsushi Nakajima and his participation in the Armed Detective Agency. His character gets based on a real-life author with the same name. Author Nakajima died at the age of 33 due to serious illness. Hence, this series gets developed as a tribute. The first episode premiered on 13th January 2021, and the final episode of season 1 wrapped up on 31st March 2021. Bungou Stray Dogs Wan falls under the genre of comedy, a slice of life and supernatural. The series has completed a season comprising 12 episodes of 11 minutes each.

 The Feel-Good Part

Since it doesn’t have significant character developments, the viewers can confide in their “comfort” characters. Being a light comic and series, Bungou Stray Dogs Wan promises to keep the mood of its viewers pleasant and jolly. Even though the story deviates from the main series, Bungou Stray Dogs lovers can see Atsushi Nakajima as a part of the Armed Detective Agency. The viewers must expect some heart-fluttering scenes and details throughout the series. As further episodes unfold, the viewers can witness subtle character development. Moreover, supporting characters will get enough screen time to explain their background stories.

 The Disappointing Factor

The story does not have intense arcs and fight scenes, so that it can be boring for many viewers. The plot does not have any cliffhangers and plot twists. Therefore, the story sequences are pretty predictable and repetitive. One of the significant downsides of this is the usual airtime of each episode is 11 minutes long. Hence, giving us less content to watch.

 In-Depth Analysis

The story revolves around the main character Atsushi Nakajima who is living some of his peaceful days apart from being a member of the Armed Detective Agency. Osamu Dazai, Doppo Kunikida, Ranpo Edogawa, Nakahara Chuuya, Oda Sakunoske, Izumi Kyouka Yosana Akiko, and Kanji Miyazawa are also the chibi character who fills the entire show with cuteness and fun.

The animation of the series does justice to the manga illustrations. The effects are subtle and pleasant to the eyes. The saga emphasizes the excellent side of the characters and a pinch of the emotional element.

Star Power

The voice actors do full justice to the chibi characters. The voice in Bungou Stray Dogs Wan is much more cute and refreshing.

 Overall Opinion

Bungou Stray Dogs Wan is a must-watch anime for its a slice of life storyline. Although the first season was short, it still held the fitness of the chibi characters while maintaining their feelings.
