TV Show Digest

Hosted by Kim Jong Kook, Lee Teuk and Yoo Se Yoon, the show brings together tone-deaf and talented singers and leaves it for the guests and panellists to guess who’s who.

The levels are differentiated into three tiers. Level one is the singer’s visual. Here the participants are revealed to the guests and are given three keywords as hints. They have to derive their conclusions by observing their posture and appearance. In the second level, the singer’s lip sync is where every singer should lip sync to a song. The good singers will mimic their voices as bad. The third level is the singer’s speech. Here the participants can answer the guests through voice-changing mics. They can ask questions related to the keywords to unveil their mystery self. In the final round, the one person standing gets revealed by playing a duet with the guest. The participants, a mixture of six groups or individuals, can appear in groups or perform solo. On winning, the talented vocalist will receive a digital single while the tone deaf person will get 5,000,000 Won.

The Feel-Good Part

The fun atmosphere sparked up by the panellists and guests goes well with the splendid performances and tensions.

The Disappointing Factor

The show carries heavy portrayals of how appearance holds a significant position in Korean culture. Most of the participants get compared to notable people by their looks, and they are framed that way by the production crew to drop hints.

Moreover, due to the current circumstances of the pandemic, the audience’s absence cuts off a significant aspect of entertainment from the show.

In-Depth Analysis

The format of the show gained immense popularity over time. Other than providing opportunities for talented singers, it tones it up with funny interventions. Furthermore, the randomness of the situation boosts the tension. Participants’ story is not uncommon in competitive shows. It often adds a sentimental depth to it.

Putting forth real and fake identities muddies the situation and makes it more unfathomable for the panellists and guests. While it might put numerous talents under the spotlight, it doesn’t move away from the energetic vibe of the show.

The chemistry between the guests intricately comes up through the different levels of the show. Them juggling with assumptions proves how concisely the production crew veiled the singers. Each round offers a realistic picture of the dual characteristics of each contestant, only to confuse the onlookers further.

Star Power

The hosts and the panellists entertainingly pulled the entire season of 12 episodes. Apart from them, the show featured marvellous panellists and artists this season. It was off to a great start with Rain and continued with Kim Soo-ro, Ha Dong-hun aka Haha, Kim Go-eun aka Byul, Ha Dong-kyun, Kim Feel, Kang Daniel, Baek Ji-young, Song Ga-in, Hwang Chi-yeul, Jang Hyuk and Ahn Jae-wook. K-pop bands SHINee, Super Junior, and Mamamoo were also on the guest list.

Overall Opinion

If you are looking for a cheerful show to cease your leisure time, alone or together, this show might be the right match.
