Movie Digest

Based on the 2020 Thai series by the same name, 2gether is about a college student named Tine who tries to get rid of his admirer by getting a pretend boyfriend. He chases down Sarawat, who is reluctant at first but ultimately gives in and the two eventually get close. As they enter the second year of their relationship, they take on more responsibilities at college as part of their new positions- Tine as the president of the cheerleading club and Sarawat as the president of the music club.

The Feel-Good Part

Since the film is an amalgamation of 2gether the series and still 2gether, all the characters are present and familiar which instantly draws the attentions of the people who were fans of the show. The story has new hidden scenes that help bind the stories better and build a bridge between the different series under the 2gether franchise. The movie also tells the story from Sarawat’s point of view, which gives a new angle to the story and helps the audience understand the depth of his character.

The Disappointing Factor

The film has been proven to be disappointing by fans of the franchise because its lack of new scenes. Almost ninety per cent of the film feels like a recap of the series with very little development in the relationship of the core characters in the series. There were expectations that the quality of the movie would be better because of the success that the previous series  has achieved, however, this wasn’t the case, there was no improvement in the quality, aspects of the film such as the editing was badly executed, which made the viewing experience even more tedious to get through. The movie ends differently which is justified by the handful of new scenes that were added, the plot redundancies were excessive felt like a waste of time for people who were already familiar with the series.

In-Depth Analysis

The main plot of the story is not very different from the series, instead of picking up where the story left off the film wastes time giving a recap which is disappointing to say the least. There is a lot of attachment that the audience has to these characters which is evident because the film milks that thoroughly. It is still fun to watch the characters interact with each other on screen, making it not a  complete waste of energy for existing fans.

Star Power

The cast delivers their reprised roles with ease and are a delight to watch on screen. The performances keep the audience engaged despite the redundancies, which displays the craft of the actors well.

Overall Opinion

For those who aren’t familiar with the series, this might be a fun one-time-watch, it also may serve as a good starting point for those who wish to watch the series as it gives a preview to the longer version of the material which could help the audience get acquainted with the characters more quickly. Some fans may find joy in watching their favourite characters reunite and look back on how the characters have developed over time.
