The depiction of the problems of ordinary mothers with middle-class lives is pretty realistic. The day-to-day problems they have to face and the difficult decisions they have to make to protect their children have been portrayed well. The suspense element in a lifestyle drama is a plus point of this show. The acting quality of the three female leads is classic.

It’s a series that lacks humor, which is the most preferred element by most audiences. It has disturbing elements like child anise, bullying, domestic violence, etc, which require viewer discretion.
In-Depth Analysis
Three different women Rumiko, Kana, and Asumi are mothers. They all have a ten-year-old son with the same name ‘Yu Ishibashi’. Rumiko is a freelance writer by profession and is forty-three years old. Her husband is named Yutaka who also works freelance but is a cameraman. They have a troubled marriage since Yutaka takes no responsibility around the house. Living in Osaka, Kana Ishibashi is a single divorced mother who works two jobs and earns for herself and her son alone. She also has a lot of loans to her name which is remaining to be paid back. Asumi Ishibashi is a thirty-six-year-old housewife who has a good relationship with both her husband and her son. All these three women have three different lives which are devoted towards their son Yu. The family members of these women especially their husbands are mostly absent and hence it’s just them and their sons. But unfortunately, something unexpected jerks their lives. As each of these mothers is suffering from a different problem every single day, they become victims of negative emotions such as anxiety, depression, stress, etc. these negative emotions lead them to take inappropriate and brutal decisions. In this process, all three boys grow differently due to the differences in pressure on them. The movie also starts with a scene of child abuse which leaves the viewers confused and wanting to know more about the story. This is the story of three women discovering the true meaning of their lives.
Star Power
All three women Rumi played by Milo Kanno, Kana played by Machiko Ono and Asumi played by Mitsuki Takahata are the stars of the show as the entire show revolves around their day-to-day lives, their emotions, their relations, etc.
Overall Opinion
This is a lifestyle drama focusing on the day-to-day life problems of three mothers representing how every mother is different yet the same. It has a lot of serious elements hence it’s a brutally realistic lifestyle drama. It is recommended for people not wanting humor in a series.
