Movie Digest

The movie is about a clumsy unsellable theatre director Nagata and Saki, his brave lover. Saki loves Nagata purely. Their romance took off when Nagata spoke to Saki and noticed that they both were wearing the same sneakers. Saki moves to Tokyo as she plans on becoming an actress. She starts pursuing a degree in fashion. Nagata has no money, so he decides to live with Saki. Unfortunately, he spends more time in theatres to fill the gaps between his ideals and reality, that leads to Saki being lonely.

The Feel-Good Part

The movie is not for making you feel good as it showcases a relationship losing its spark. The main couple Nagata and Saki t try to work out the differences in their relationship and support each other through the trials and tribulations in their lives. Tiny details of romance are shown in the film, and the subtlety is powerful.

The Disappointing Factor

This drama does not have many disappointing factors. The only thing that is a let-down is how the movie is so long, and it feels like it is taking too much time explaining everything. Other than that, it is well-made.

In-Depth Analysis

This movie is about a man struggling with many insecurities who lashes out at the people around him. He is very uptight and refuses to go to Disneyland, and claims he cannot enjoy the work made by other playwrights and many other things. He also does not let Saki enjoy other people’s work. His jealousy causes him to get upset at Saki, but he does not realize why. Saki is very supportive and indulges in him by giving him whatever he wants, but not giving him what he needs.

This drama properly encapsulates the ups and downs in a romantic relationship and showcases complex emotions brilliantly.

Star Power

The stars knocked it out of the park for this role. Kento Yamazaki and Maya Matsuoka look very realistic as a couple. The supporting cast consists of Kanichiro Sato, Sairi Ito, and many more who also play their roles in a believable manner. All  these characters feel like people you might know in real life, and the actors and actresses have emulated them well.

Overall Opinion

This movie is very exceptionally written. Various facets of human psychology have been portrayed well. The characters are multi-dimensional and have their own goals and motivations. The film is a must-watch for everyone regardless of what genre they prefer.
