Movie Digest

“His” is a Japanese BL drama. Shun and Nagisa date in high school, but they go separate ways. Nagisa completely isolates Shun and his friends and disappears. After some years, Nagisa shows up at Shun with his six-year-old daughter, Sora. Shun runs a store in a rural area dedicating his life to work after getting heartbroken. Nagisa realizes that he still loves Shun and tries to rekindle their love.

The Feel-Good Part

The little girl’s perspective is heart-fluttering and eye-opening in this movie. This movie shows the struggles of adults.

The Disappointing Factor

It has too many court scenes of Nagisa’s divorce. This makes it look dragged, and this is not up to par compared with other BL dramas, but it has a good story.

In-Depth Analysis

Shun and Nagisa fall in love during high school. Even though both of them love each other, Nagisa declares that there is no future for them and leaves Shun who still likes him. After a few years, he suddenly reunites with Shun who now runs a store in a rural area. Nagisa realizes he still loves Shun after spending more time with him. He tries to make up with him after breaking his heart. Nagisa’s daughter Sora is a good character, she makes them realize that the thing they think is ugly and strange is all in their head. Shun doesn’t come out to his co-workers. This drama explores various concepts from an adult point of view like how gays are treated in Japan. Nagisa’s father-like relationship with Sora is adorable. The main couple also had great chemistry.

Star Power

Miyazawa Hio did a great job expressing his introverted yet expressive character and Fujiwara Kisetsu also did a good job.

Overall Opinion

Overall, this is a good story exploring various concepts homosexuals face in society and is realistic. It is a good movie and leaves you feeling content. It is worth watching.
