Movie Digest
Song Hao was a bright student in school but because his friend’s father was a renowned lawyer and benefited the school, his so well-deserved college position is given to his friend, Li Tang.
But things change so drastically in the first few scenes of the movie. He fortuitously enters the wrong house where he is mistaken for a thief and because of some circumstances he stabs the owner. To save his family’s reputation he runs away.
After 15 years away from his hometown he attended his mother’s funeral only to be haunted by his past.
The Feel-Good Part
There is no such feel-good part in the movie. Just whenever Song Hao is with Pan Xiaoshuang it feels good. Overall, the movie is very sad and filled with mystery.
The Disappointing Factor
The whole length of the movie is very sad. We understand that it is the theme of it but it just gets too sorrowful and dejected.
In-Depth Analysis
The story follows the life of Song Hao. He is a bright student in school but is robbed of his position in college and given to his friend, Li Tang, because his father is an authoritative local- mayor Li Weiguo. And in an attempt to explain, his school headmaster tells him that he prefers corporate benefits over an individual.
He plans on visiting Li Tang in his opulent home but enters the wrong house. He gets mistaken for a robber and because of some state of an affair, he kills the owner. His father is also involved in this case which could ruin their family’s reputation and destroy his career. So, he runs away to Guangzhou and starts to work in a masonry factory.
He returns after 15 years which is set in the year 2007 for his mother’s funeral. There he reunites with Pan Xiaoshuang and develops a romantic relationship with her. Nut things don’t go the right way because his past comes back to haunt his present.
Star Power
The star cast is very powerful. The way they all deliver their emotions is outstanding. Zhou Zhengjie’s acting was so amazing that it will give you legit goosebumps. Every actor was perfect for their role.
Overall Opinion
It is a good mystery movie. You will be hooked till the end but it is just too sad. If you are looking for a mystery movie with a little bit of romance and a little bit of action then this one is for you.
