The episode could’ve been given a more severe tone to throw back to the emotional moments that were present in the drama. There is no heart-wrenching plot twist, which may seem bleak to some viewers. It does not feel like a sequel to the series, but rather a cute chance for fans to see the characters for one last time.
In-Depth Analysis
After the deep and depressing moments of the series, this episode feels like a breath of fresh air. It delivers closure in what happened after the characters graduated. It also gives the viewers an insight into what has happened after the sudden and rushed time skip. It is light-hearted and heart-warming. The image of females acting as distractions or evil is still present. However, Khai and third’s relationship is shown in their rawest form, indicating their cuteness along with the craziness. Khai’s well-needed proposal to third, is the highlight of the episode and makes the fans fall in love with their relationship all over again. Khai’s dominance with Third’s wholesomeness makes it all the more watch-worthy. Khai’s character development after the season ended is also a treat to watch. Witnessing Khai be scared of losing Third, and go from a playboy to hardcore romantic is a cherry on the cake. Third has also gained some confidence and the scene where he acts boldly with Khai is also adorable. What adds even more to the particular episode are their cute interactions with their anniversary scene and background music. The dialogues between the characters manage to deliver their true feelings. The chemistry between the characters is highlighted very well, and for all Theory of Love fans, it is eye warming and fangirling worthy. The storyline does not offer anything fancy or dramatic. The plot for the special episodes consists of minor misunderstandings that could quickly be cleared up by talking them out and communicating with each other. But they are extended intentionally and forced on the characters to bring out their charisma for the audience. At some points, it can get frustrating to watch the characters fight over something silly that could be easily resolved. But even then, the characters provide the audience with the best experience with their acting and show the much-needed emotional attachment and character development that the audience wants. When Khai finally comes out clean to third, we see how much both of them have matured. Khai doesn’t want to lose Third, but at the same time, Third doesn’t want to lose Khai either. Third is mature about the whole issue and shows that he has developed since their last conflicts. The special episode provides the audience what they needed the most, i.e. to go back to their favorite characters, and get the same feeling of happiness when they first saw them unite.
Star Power
The cast has done a superb job of expressing every bit of emotion felt by their characters. We see them fighting, being sad, being happy and then eventually loving each other again. The plot twist of Khai being the one overwhelmingly in love with Third is relieving to the fans after all the drama in the series.
Overall Opinion
The special episode provides full justice to Third and Khai’s relationship and gives Third his much-deserved happiness. The episode is wholesome and features a lot of cute, adorable moments. It is not necessary as a sequel, but for fans who love Theory of Love deeply, this is a must-watch to revisit their favorite characters.
