Drama Digest

Keptawan is a rural teen whose mother operates a bedsit. It has been more successful because of the current marketing effort by Nabdao. Keptawan and Nabdao exchanged information and communicated via phone calls and text messages. Keptawan leaves his home for several weeks to work in the city. He starts working as a barista at a coffee shop that owns by his uncle. He constantly struggles and makes foolish errors. His uncle berates him regularly. Keptawan called Nabdao to inform him that he was in the city and agreed to meet. Nabdao, on the other hand, is preoccupied with schoolwork. Despite the passage of weeks, they have not seen each other.

The Feel-Good Part

Although the interaction between Keptawan and Nabdao is immature, the lovely and soft tone is appropriate for this pleasant teen drama. There are a few scenes that are well-written and have stunning cinematography.

The Disappointing Factor

The drama is slow in the 1st episode without any development in characters or story. There were fillers in the first half, which was unnecessary, and they could have focussed on developing the romance.

In-Depth Analysis

This show is the sequel to the Thai drama ‘Country Boy.’ With its modest yet exquisite visual presentation, this low-budget series appears respectable. The protagonist ventures outside his comfort zone for the first time, leaving his small hometown. His coming-of-age story may have highlighted the cultural disparities between rural and urban life. Unfortunately, the main character has few meaningful or memorable encounters. This meandering sequel barely touches the surface of its restricted, underwhelming, and lightweight narrative. As a couple, Keptawan and Nabdao require significant growth. They have a few scenes together, but not enough to form a strong bond. Their bond feels more like a platonic friendship than a high school crush. Instead of falling in love, you see a comfortable companionship mixed with a budding attraction. Overall, this sequel improves on its predecessor, but it still requires some fine-tuning here and there. However, the narration remains poor, and the romance falls flat. Country Boy 2 concludes on a cheerful, joyful note.

Star Power

Oak Puwanart Runapnain (Keptawan) and Mon Hatsawatchon Wongsrisai (Nabdao) have good chemistry. They did a decent job with the roles assigned to them.

Overall Opinion

It is a short and sweet drama for a quick binge-watch.
