Drama Digest

This Thai series is a slice of life and comedy series with a hint of gay romance representation. It was mistaken for a BL the first time it was released, but that is not what the series is about. It’s about four men, who work at a bakery on different positions. Their lives are normal and silly and they get through every day with humour. But an unexpected event takes place near their bakery, which interferes with their lives, leaving them feeling uncomfortable. The entire story revolves around finding out the truth behind the murder mystery and how the guys cope up with it.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama does a good job of incorporating the suspense element into the story even though the story looked like a slice-of-life drama. The relationship between the characters does not turn romantic even after one of the characters is openly gay.

The Disappointing Factor

Every episode introduces a new plot which makes it confusing for the viewers. These plots do not culminate properly and are only half-introduced in every episode. The plot twists feel unnecessary at many points, given the genre and vibe of the drama. The act of fooling the audience with a BL setup and not actually making it into a BL series disappointed many audiences. Children’s murder is a disturbing point, that is totally irrelevant to the show.

In-Depth Analysis

The story is based in a bakery that is owned by Punn. Punn is the son of a billionaire. He runs and owns a highly successful bakery in Thailand. The main reason for his success is a man named ‘Weir.’ Due to his extraordinary pastry-making skills, Weir is the head chef of the bakery and is called ‘the god of pastry,’ due to his extraordinary pastry-making skills. This bakery is very popular among women and many women visit the bakery regularly on a large scale. The reason for their visit is mostly the head chef, but the head chef is not much interested in them as he is gay. The third member of the bakery is Krathing, who works under Weir as his assistant Baker. He also works as a general store employee and takes care of everything including baking. The last employee is Pooh, Punn’s bodyguard. Punn’s father had appointed poo as his bodyguard to look after him at all times. Therefore, he has to work at the bakery too as part of his job. He’s been given the job of waiting for the tables at the bakery but he’s not very good at it. All these four live a good life and get through every day with fun and humor. But one fine day, a strange murder takes place near the bakery which leaves them feeling uneasy. As the police doubt these four to be involved in the case, it disturbs their lives. Even though none of them is related to the case directly, all of them have their own secrets, which they have not shared with anyone. Along with murders, kidnappings had also been happening around the area and the victims were little children. In between all that, individual stuff also keeps taking place for the four, which they have to deal with.

Star Power

All characters had their individual share of mystery, so no character outshined the other.

Overall Opinion

Overall, it is a disappointing drama as it does not stand true to the novel it is based on. There were a lot of unnecessary elements that hampered the character development on the show.
