Law School is a Korean drama set in the background of the prestigious Hankuk University Law School. The lives of the professors and the ambitious students take an unexpected turn when a murder occurs on the campus. Yang Jong-hoon was a former elite prosecutor, now a criminal law professor at Hankuk University. He gets accused of the murder of Seo Byung Joo. The plot develops to show the proceedings of the investigation of the high-profile case. Kang Sol, Joon-hwi, and a few other students investigate independently to prove the innocence of Professor Yang.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama does not only deal with the murder case alone. It also tackles other crimes commonly encountered in real life. Kang Sol A is a relatable female lead struck among the wise students in the best law school. Law School is a crime thriller with a blend of romance and comedy. The mock trial class and the courtroom scenes are intense. The performance of all the actors was exceptional. The drama is exceptionally well-paced, thanks to the screenplay. The character developments in the show were the need of the hour.

The Disappointing Factor

The show does not have a romance line, but the lead couples have chemistry. The initial episodes were dull. They were not as breath-holding as the final episodes. There are a few plotholes that leave the audience confused.

In-Depth Analysis

During a mock trial class, professor Seo Byung Joo gets murdered. Another professor Yang Jong-hoon becomes a suspect. Students have a hard time comprehending the situation going around. Some suspect their professor, but a few believe he is innocent. Han Joon Hwi is a final year law student. He is a genius, good-looking fellow who can easily charm anyone with his personality. But he also hides a part of life from others. Jeon Ye-seul is another final year student at the school. Kang Sol A is one of the rare average students in Hankuk University Law School who is not great at academics but has a burning passion for succeeding as a good lawyer. Kim Eun Sook is another civil law professor at Hankuk Law school. She was once the head of the free legal clinic initiated by the school. All the secrets that the students and the professors hold get revealed during the process. The show displays the entangled lives of law school students and the messed up legal system in the country.

Star Power

In the main roles, we see Kim Myung-min as Yang Jong-hoon, Kim Bum as Han Joon-hwi, Ryu Hye-young as Kang Sol A, and Lee Jung-Eun as Kim Eun-sook. We see Ahn Nae-sang as Seo Byung-Ju, Gil Hae-Yeon as Oh Jung-hee, Woo Hyeon as Sung Dong-il,  Oh Man-Seok as Kang Joo-man, and Lee Seung-hun as Jung Dae-Hyeon as the Law School professors. Lee Soo-Kyung plays the role of Kang Sol B. We see Lee David as Seo Ji-ho, Go Yoon-Jung as Jeon Ye-seul, Hyun Woo as Yoo Seung-Jae, Lee Kang-Ji as Min Bok-gi, and Kim Min-Seok as Jo Ye-beom play the roles of Law school students. In other supporting roles, we see Park Hyuk-Kwon as Jin Hyeong-woo, Kim Yong-Joon as Chief Prosecutor Kim, Shin Mi-young as Kang Sol A’s mother, Park So-Yi as Kang Byeol, Ryu Hye-young as Kang Dan, Jung Won-Joong as Assemblyman Ko Hyeong-su, Jo Jae-ryong as Lee Man-ho, Lee Hwi-jong as Ko Young-chang, Lee Chun-hee as Park Geun-tae, Sung Yeo-jin as Han Joon-hwi’s aunt, and Park Mi-Hyeon as Han Hye-gyeong.

Overall Opinion

Law School is one of the best legal Korean dramas. All the elements in the drama add up to make a great show. It is the actor Kim Bum’s comeback drama after his military discharge. It was worth the wait to see him in this script.
