Drama Digest

Nagisa Mio, a cheerful and good-natured oceanographer at Shibaura University of Marine Science and Technology, loves the sea and has a complicated past and family life. Hasuda Rintaro, the son of a wealthy family, is feared by the people around him, as he seems intimidating and hard to approach. Rintaro is put in charge of a marine development program due to his father’s declining health as he returns to Japan. Meanwhile, Mio is trying to protect the ocean and opposes the project that Rintaro is leading. These two completely different people fall in love, but their romance is forbidden, as Mio has a shocking secret. To find out this secret, watch “Koi wa Deep ni”.

The Feel-Good Part

The romantic comedy gives off fairy-tale vibes. Mio’s cheerful and bubbly nature makes the drama more exciting and makes the audience adore her. There are several cute scenes, which makes the drama more fresh and delightful.

The Disappointing Factor

The pacing in the drama could have been improved. Also, the characters tend to overreact quite a lot. The lead characters have been well-developed. However, the same cannot be said for the supporting characters, specifically, Aika and Eitaro.

In-Depth Analysis

The chemistry between the leads is beautiful. The drama is fresh and exciting. The only disappointing factor is the overreaction by the characters, in some of the scenes. Other than that, the acting is beautiful. Also, the location in which Mio communicates with Rintaro through seashells is very well written and breath-taking. The female lead has a big secret that keeps the audience wondering from the beginning. However, the secret is revealed in Episode 7. The revelation makes the audience emotional, as it has been beautifully portrayed. Although, a few people may drop this drama, as the characters tend to overreact, if you still keep watching it, the drama turns out to be very cute and lovely. The special reunion episode, in the end, was a cherry on the top. It shows how the characters have grown throughout 9 episodes.

Star Power

Ishihara Satomi (Nagisa Mio) and Ayano Go (Hasuda Rintaro) have presented great chemistry. Ayano Go plays the role of the cold, tsundere heir well. Meanwhile, Ishihara Satomi, too, does justice to Mio’s bubbly character. However, the characters like Aika (Imada Mio) and Eitaro (Watanabe Keisuke) could have done better, if their characters had been well developed.

Overall Opinion

If you’re looking for an offbeat romantic comedy, “Koi wa Deep ni” is the drama for you. However, it does have characters overreacting in certain scenes. So, only watch the drama, if you can look past the certain scenes in which the female lead tends to overreact, even when it is uncessary. However, her overacting was necessary to play the personality type that her character, Mio was trying to portray.
