English translation Love you as the world ends. This is a zombie apocalypse story about a boy named Mamiya Hibiki who gets trapped in a tunnel for four days. After escaping somehow, he finds himself in a different world. In this new world full of zombies, his main aim is to search for his girlfriend whom he loves the most.
The Feel-Good Factor
This is the second season of the show Kimi. This season paves the way for the character development of all the characters who seemed annoying in the first season. Apart from that, the most salient feature of the series is Hibiki’s love for his girlfriend which he does not give up on no matter what.
The Disappointing Factor
The story is slow-paced. Hibiki is a hardworking guy who gives his all to be together with his beloved girlfriend once again. But his girlfriend moves on after not being able to find him for some days and starts dating other guys. Hibiki is the only one who makes sacrifices out of the two which is disappointing. The actors who portray zombies don’t seem natural and their makeup looks prosthetic and unprofessional.
In-Depth Analysis
The story starts with the introduction of Mayami Hibiki who is an ordinary man. He makes his living by working as a mechanic in a garage. He lives with his girlfriend, Ogasawara Kurumi. He and Kurumi have been together since they were in high school. One fine day, Hibiki accidentally slips into a tunnel and gets trapped there for four days. Later, when he escapes, he’s introduced to a whole new world where nothing seems like before. There are some other survivors along with him, who face a world where people are just like zombies. These zombies are formed from a virus called “golem,” which infects human beings and turns them into zombies. As soon as he realizes that he’ll have to fight these zombies to get out of that place, his foremost and most important mission becomes to meet his girlfriend. While on the other hand his girlfriend, Kurumi, presumes he has died and starts dating other guys. Later on, in the show, she discovers that she’s pregnant with Hibiki’s child. A lot of events happen which reveal a lot of things such as what happens to Kurumi, who are golems, what are the ways of killing them and who founded them. Even though it’s a zombie apocalypse story, it’s mainly the story of the undying and unrequited love of 4Hibiki and Kurumi and how things change between them in the post-apocalyptic world.
Star Power
The male lead Mayami Hibiki played by Ryoma Takeuchi, is the star of the show as he’s the one who’s the most hardworking on the show. He loves his girlfriend the most and his character portrays that love and longing well.
Overall Opinion
It is a blatant series where only one out of the two people works for the relationship. It makes your heart go out for the male lead. Even though it is put up as a zombie movie, it’s mostly a love story and disappoints you in the thriller part of the movie.
