Drama Digest:

This show begins with a century-long family story that involves three generations of women in a family.  These generations start with Yusuko, then her daughter Kijima Rui and after her granddaughter Hinata. They are together learning English from the radio course.

Tachibana Yasuko was born in Okayama City,Taisho 14. In the History of Japan, the Taisho period starts from 30th July 1912 to 25th December 1926. Yasuko was born in 1925. This year Japan began radio broadcasting for the first time. Her story revolves around Japanese sweets and baseball. Yasuko was an ordinary girl, loved black bean paste, sweets, and fashion. In the shopping district of Okayama city, she was on the signboard of the sweet’s shop of the ‘Tachibana’ family. After graduating from high school, she met with Minoru, who recommended she can listen to the NHK English radio course. She was attracted to English and started learning it. After ending the program, Minoru suggested her to learn basic English. When the Pacific War started, she couldn’t continue her study and married Minoru. After some days, she gave birth to a daughter, named Rui.

After that, the story begins of Yasuko’s daughter, Rui. She was born in Osaka in Showa 30. The Showa Era starts on December 24th, 1926, and ends on January 7th, 1989. She was born in 1955 and grew up hating English. She lived with her parents and was attached to jazz songs.

Meanwhile, Hinata’s story set off in Kyoto in the year 1965. Hinata is Rui”s daughter raised in a town in Kyoto. She loves to watch historical dramas and likes samurai. She has a strong ethic sense, which makes her a powerful character. She is constantly serious, who has no demand from her life.

The Feel-Good Part:

In this one drama, the audience can watch three types of genres. Every genre has its own story and problems. The women’s characters are powerful in this show. The family problems are portrayed very beautifully. We should appreciate how women are solving problems.

The Disappointing Factor:

There are too many plots in one show, that sometimes make you feel confused. Sometimes you are being distracted by so many episodes.

In-Depth Analysis:

The show is telling the story of the three generations. People of different ages may relate to it.

Star Power:

The actors in their lead parts are excellent. They beautifully portray every shade of woman. The other characters are also very genuine in their roles.

Overall Opinion:

The family drama entertains the audience. The short duration of the episodes makes this show exciting.
