“17-Sai No Teikoku” is a story of a seventeen-year-old boy, Maki Aran, who was chosen by the AI to be the Prime Minister. Japan has become a country on the decline in the year 202X. Prime Minister Washida starts an experimental project called Utopi-AI which is where an AI selects potential leader candidates all over the country despite their age and gender. It ends up selecting Maki Aran a 17-year-old as the prime minister.

The Feel-Good Part

There are many interesting ideas brought up during the show. The sound track is very good. This concept is unique and controversial.

The Disappointing Factor

This show is confusing and has the concepts that may not be understood by a lot of people. At first it was very interesting but as the show goes on this feeling doesn’t last.

In-Depth Analysis

Prime Minister Washida starts an experimental project called Utopi-AI known as UA which is where an AI selects potential leader candidates all over the country despite their age and gender. Maki Aran is an immature guy who dreams of an ideal world. He was selected as the Prime Minister by the AI. There are other members who are selected as leaders to support him who age around 20. Maki and his compatriots use AI to push forward reforms to regenerate the degenerated regional cities as the experimental city UA. The AI can supplement any amount of experience. With this they set on the mission to change reforms and turn the country into an idealistic one in the experimental city UA.

Star Power

Kamio Fuju and the other supporting cast did a great job throughout the series.

Overall Opinion

Overall, this is a unique and interesting concept which can binged in day as it has only 5 episodes. It may be confusing at times but it is worth watching.
