Drama Digest
It is a Chinese drama directed by Patrick Yau and Wai Hong Chui. Though a third season, this drama’s timeline sets before the previous two seasons in the Tang Dynasty period. It is a stand-alone drama and doesn’t need the past seasons to follow this one.
The Feel-Good Part
It is relaxing and enjoyable. It is funny and yet not comical. The humor comes mostly from the marvelous acting, the dialog, and the dynamics between the characters. It revolves around supernatural phenomena, so the CGI here is top-notch. It is the third season of the Wu Xin series. Despite this, the timeline is a lot earlier than the previous two series, set in the Tang dynasty period. One does not need to watch the previous two seasons to understand this one; everything is explained clearly and flows nicely.
The Disappointing Factor
Too few things seem to be happening in one episode, and the plot is not engaging enough to keep me invested in the story. This drama is independent as a complete series.
In-Depth Analysis
An immortal Taoist Master with no heart seeks his death because he is fed up with living. On his journey seeking death, he encounters mysteries, murders, and crimes and eventually falls in love all over again. What is it like for an immortal and a mortal to fall in love with each other? Most people seek immortality, but have we thought of what it would be like as Wu Xin is experiencing it?
Star Power
Elvis Han (who plays Wu Xin) is a marvelous actor. He has an air of maturity and provides stability in every situation he is in, and yet he does not lack that humorous and playful demeanor. As a man with no heart (his name Wu Xin means no heart in Chinese), he is immortal.
Overall Opinion
It was an impeccable historical drama. The plot moves slowly, but we have to be patient while watching this. The actors also give justice to their characters, making it more fun to watch.
