The show is set in the very initial years of the Republic of China. It follows two generations of the Murong family and is centrally focused on their lives. The Murong family is primarily focused on their business, which mainly involves setting up of factories. It showcases their ups during the growth of the Republic of China, which aims to become a nation by showcasing its factory prowess and their downs, which cause them to experience the damage and hardships due to the Sino-Japanese war.

Star Power

Han Vivien as Su Yu Qing, Chunyu Shan Shan as Murong Bo, Li You Bin as Teacher Dong, portray their roles wonderfully. They deliver dialogues that are in line with the story and capture the true essence of what it was like to live in those times. They display their relationships and make it feel like they’ve known each other for years, even though they have just been cast as actors for those roles.

Overall Opinion

The Builders is a great watch for those looking for a different cdrama that does not follow the generic cdrama story line. It beautifully captures what its viewers would expect it to.
