Drama Digest –

Xiao Xiao loves to eat food, and food has always been her comfort. But due to the overburdening standard of beauty for being slim, Xiao finds her comfort more like a curse. She wishes to live in the time of the Tang Dynasty, where plump and healthy beauty standards are worshipped. She helps a painfully frail girl living in the Tang Dynasty to attract men. She enjoys her time of being in this dynasty until it gets difficult for her to stay here as a handsome gentleman gets his attention on her.

The Feel-Good Part –

This story is a classic example of how a woman feels when she is judged because of her body and her food choices. It deals with factors like body swap, time travel, and unlikely romance has always been a favorite genre for viewers. Xiao has always been anti for the standard and loves to eat until she chokes and enters the Tang Dynasty where she falls in love with a handsome man. She brings her positive energies and returns to her life where she has to deal with life drama and adventures along with her comfort, food.

The Disappointing Factor –

The biggest disappointment of this series is how short it is. The timeline of just 10 min is very risky and unconventional to do, and it does not work for a lot of audiences. The background score can go boring and weird for some. It is a fun watch but could have another season with how slim women have to face scrutiny too. The fat girl issues with beauty standards have been glorified enough in this series.

In-Depth Analysis –

The best part of the plot is the overall crux. It is the hero of the show. The problem young girls have these days is to follow the standard of beauty which varies so much. Being slim is unrealistic standard girls and women have to follow, and for that, they can go any way to maintain it. Starving, exercising excessively or trying fad diets is just the beginning of it, which is unsustainable and unrealistic. This show highlights it and gives girls and women another relatable story to relate to.

Star Power –

All the actors have been maintaining good chemistry with the lighthearted comedy and some solid scenes. Wan’er, an important character of this show, is lighthearted and a cutie-pie who knows her social media presence well. She is an extrovert and an all-out. A striking personality like Liu Run Nan has a grumpy fiance who loves her but is very dumb and distant. All the characters have unique personalities of their own and the show exemplifies the characters well.

Overall Opinion –

It has been a revolutionary show to watch shot during the pandemic. It is recommended to boost your spirits during these times.
