A Cat and a Fish is known by a long list of other names; Cat Riding a Fish, President, Would You Please Shut Up, Zong Cai Qing Bi Zui, and Qi Zhe Yu De Mao. One day she is met with a terrible accident where she gets hit and ends up hurting Zhou Zhi Fei, a dominant and one-track-minded CEO. After a long argument and a series of misunderstandings, the two eventually fall for each other and start a love story that is sure to melt your heart. Will the two work out their differences while heating with each other? Will Shi Hua Hua learn to grow and continue being self-sufficient even with a rigid CEO lover? Watch the drama and find out.

The Feel-Good Part

Like most romantic dramas, the greatness of Perfect Mismatch or A Cat and a Fish is the main couple. They are very distinguishable from each other, and it’s interesting to see them work out their differences and form a romance like no other. They have the characteristics that allow them to stand on their own, but with the success and stability that they have, it is fun to see how they still have time to explore love and romance. Moreover, their chemistry is on point and something just beautiful. There is some use of color within the drama that allows it to feel warm and wholesome and draws you in.

The Disappointing Factor

There is a bit of power imbalance when it comes to this couple. While the chemistry between the two is noticeable, there is a weird sense that she will never equal him. Even the title of the drama points in the direction of this idea. That problematic nature depends on the audience and whether you are willing to accept that she would give up everything just for a chance at love. Some moments feel extremely cliche and out of place but that is a trope in a wide range of romance dramas that is not going away any time soon. If you are looking for a drama with more depth, then maybe this drama is for someone else.

In-Depth Analysis

The enemies-to-lovers trope works great when the two are equally powered, or both gain something from it. Our lead couple does gain love but the power imbalance would divide audiences. Some may find it endearing, and some may find it problematic. There is not much you can change from this drama so that it would be something extraordinary or revolutionary. Mostly, it is a pretty standard and traditional drama with a single couple who goes from hate to love. If you are looking for a weirdly one-sided power dynamic even though both of the partners have something special within themselves, then you may come to enjoy it.

Star Power

The director of this drama, Shen Wen Shuai, delivers some great direction throughout this entire drama. After all, he is responsible for some of the most significant moments within the show, especially when it comes to scenes with our two leads. Shen Wen Shuai directed projects such as The Big Boss, The Emergence of First Love, Dream Detective, Love at Night, and Hello Debate Opponent 2. Our two leads, played by Luo Zheng and Rain Lu, definitely pull their weight regarding some great performances. While there are moments where they feel awkward, they also manage to pull off some great scenes with great acting and chemistry. You cannot help but root for their relationship when they are on screen together. Luo Zheng stars in dramas such as Rules of Zoovenia, Boom! Boom!, Parallel Love, Cry Me A River of Stars, Poisoned Love, and Make My Heart Smile. He has also appeared in TV shows such as We Are Young, Real Actor, and Idol Producer. Rain Lu stars in dramas and movies such as When We Were Young, Take My Brother Away, Gank Your Heart, Beautiful Time With You, and Qing Qing Zi Jin. She also appeared on TV shows such as Happy Camp, Day Day Up, Summer Sweetie, and The Chamber of Secret Escape.

Overall Opinion

This is a very classic drama, and there is not much that sets it apart except for the intensity of the relationship. However, it is worth a watch to see how it ends.
