To introduce Bong Joon-ho formally, he is a South Korean film director, producer, screenwriter, and holder of four Academy Awards for his film Parasite. Bong Joon-ho made his way to international fame after Parasite's wonders in the audience and simultaneously at the Oscars. He earned the Academy Award for Best Direction. Bong has been working on films and direction since his years in college. He has many short films under his name, directed during the 1990s and 2000. 3. Barking Dogs Never Bite- 2000

Barking Dogs Never Bite, a Korean dark comedy film, is named after the 1872 novel -A dog of Flanders. The film follows the story of unemployed college professor Ko Yoon-Ju (Lee Sung-Jae), who struggles with his job and resents his neighbor's dog. Irritated Yun-Ju, finally resorts to kidnapping and killing them. Whereas Park Hyun-Nam, played by Bae Doona, a maintenance worker for the same complex, investigates the missing dogs. It was a directorial debut for Bong Joon-ho.

 

4. Okja- 2017

Okja is an international production in South Korea and the United States and an action-adventure film. This film stars Seo-Hyeon Ahn, Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal. Okja is a film about the friendship between a young girl named Mija and a genetically modified super pig Okja. Okja is transferred to NYC and gets kidnapped by a meat company. Young girl Mija travels from South Korea to the U.S.A to rescue Okja. It got nominated for the Cannes Film festival and many awards.

 

5. Memories Of Murder- 2003

Bong-ho has scripted the film creatively as it is based/inspired by real-life events or crimes in South Korea. The movie has two detectives who help the cops investigate the serial killers. Bong received Grand Bell Award for Best Director and other awards- best lighting, best actor, and best film in the Blue Dragon Awards, Grand Bell Film Awards, Busan Film Critics Association Awards, and many others.

 

6. Mother- 2009

Mother is a remarkable story of a mother and a son by Bong-Ho. She is the mother trying to prove that his mentally challenged son is innocent when he gets arrested under accusations of murdering a young girl. Mother marked many awards for the film, screenplay, and actors.

 

7. Tokyo!- 2008

It is not a single plot story but a three-segmented story by Leos Carax, Michel Gondry, and Bong Joon-ho. All are non-Japanese directors. Bong Joon-ho has directed one of the three tales about a man who has shut himself down in his apartment. But he does get out because of a young pizza delivery girl. Other tales follow the story of a sewer-dweller and a happy couple.

 

8. Incoherence - 1994 

Incoherence is a 1994 short film by Bong Joon-ho. Bong was in his fourth year of graduation when he directed this film. It is about three men and three different situational stories, brought together in the fourth part through a brilliantly creative concept. It is about how experts talk on a television show about social disorder, where they indulge in little crimes.

Influenza is Bong Joon's 30 minutes disturbingly violent short film about  Jo Hyuk-Rae, an unemployed man whose actions are framed in a manner to capture in CCTV cameras. It is just 30 minutes from this man’s criminal life, where Bong sticks to his genre about society and crime. Influenza is 2004 released short film after Memories of Murder in 2003.
