Korean shows have the best family stories. Over the years Korean dramas are becoming more and more inclusive and are showing the fact that families can be different and imperfect. Here are a few shows that are about parents not by blood but by heart.

1. Our Beloved Summer

Choi Ung’s parents adopted him as a kid and this is not revealed until the second half of the show. Though his parents have showered him with love, he knows the fact that they still haven’t moved on from the loss of their biological child. But, he finally understands their worth.

Oh Ri Jin is adopted by her mother’s best friend. Her new family’s love makes her forget the traumatic experiences she had as a child. We later get to know about the hardships her adoptive mother went through to save her.

Kang Ji Min is a reporter and a proud father of his daughter Kang Woo Joo. After years of failed pregnancy, he and his wife decide to adopt a child and find Woo Joo. Years later, he discovers that his child’s biological mother was once a prisoner.

 

8. Solomon's Perjury

Han Ji Hoon met his adoptive father at the police station while he was narrating the truth about the domestic violence against his mother. After developing an unlikely bond with the child, the prosecutor of the case decides to adopt him after a few months.

Ryan Gold’s adoptive parents are not shown in the drama, but viewers can conclude that they gave him a good life. Another character, Nam Eun Gi is not legally adopted but he is taken care of by the female lead’s family and also lived there when he was young.

Lee Ahn lost his parents in a fire accident and was left all alone, crying in the streets. Kang Sung Mo becomes Ahn’s adoptive brother. Sung Mo works hard to become a good prosecutor and also takes care of Lee Ahn.
