Drama Digest

“Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki” is a Japanese short animated series called “Yatogame-chan’s observation diary.” It has a total of four seasons aired till now. The anime adapts from a four-panel manga series of the same name. They target the series toward the audience of Nagoya. Jin Kaito is a high school student who grew up in Tokyo and moved to Nagoya. There he meets Yatogame Monaka, the protagonist of the show. She is a fellow student who has a heavy Nagoya dialect. Kaito learns about Nagoya by joining the photography club. This local comedy has been increasing the popularity of the Nagoya accent using the adorable character of Yatogame-chan. The show is a comparison between Tokyo and Nagoya with various arguments and opinions and many unexplainable questions.

The Feel-Good Part

The show is a perfect short anime of the slice-of-life genre. It can enhance your knowledge of many exciting cultural facts. You can learn more about the people that stay in Nagoya. The interesting thing about the show is you don’t need to watch the previous two seasons to understand this one. Even without prior knowledge, this show can provide comfort and enjoyment. We can watch it while taking a break from the mainstream anime series. There is no depth or complexity in it. It shows how people who move from Tokyo to Nagoya adjust to the environment there and compare both cities.

The Disappointing Factor

The disappointing factor about the show is the humor in the show is quite complex sometimes and it is tough to understand the jokes in depth. The art style is not so significant, and pretty average. While they have released four seasons of the show, some viewers believe that the rest of the seasons after the first two are an exaggeration.

In-Depth Analysis

“Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki Sansatsume” is the 3rd season of the series. Like the first two seasons, the third part shows the life of the four friends from the photo club who are Monaka, Tanna, Mai, and Kaito. They previously showed many of the daily stories while staying in the City of Nagoya and this season, their city tour continues. All four main characters have their ideas about the “better” city. They introduced another new girl who has most from Tokyo to Nagoya and already misses her old “love” just after the first day there. Initially faced difficulties there and misunderstanding with Monaka, but she is adjusting with time. Two new main characters are introduced who are called Shiharu and Nanaho. All with different opinions, all of them have fun and amuse themselves together.

Star Power

The show was fun because of the cute character of Yatogame with her Nagoya accent and typical gimmick. All the voice actors played their roles well and made it a fun show. Tomatsu Haruka, Ichiki Mitsuhiro, Wakai Yuuki, and Toujou Hisako played the four main characters.

Overall Opinion

It is a short and pleasant show to watch for a break. This fun show will also educate you on the differences between cities and also friendship.
