Anime Review: Kamen Rider Revice

Drama Digest

A research mission in Latin America discovered an old relic containing the remnants of the demon Giff in 1971, resulting in the formation of the Vistamps. Presently, Giff’s remains are in the hands of the Deadmans, a demon cult that seeks to resurrect him by converting people’s inner demons into their fold. Ikki Igarashi is defending his family from the claws of the Deadmans. Vice, a demon who inhabits Ikki’s body, has a pact with him. They turn into two Kamen Riders: Ikki as Kamen Rider Revi and Vice as Kamen Rider Vice when they work together. They are Kamen Rider Revice!

The Feel-Good Part

There is a good balance of action with familial themes. There are not any filler scenes or episodes that would not drag the drama.

The Disappointing Factor

The execution of CGI in the drama is poor and does not blend with the background. The ending feels a little rushed.

In-Depth Analysis

Kamen Rider Revice is a Japanese Tokusatsu drama in the Kamen Rider Series by Toei Company. It is the third series to premiere in the Reiwa Era and the thirty-second series overall. It also serves to mark the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Although the family is a prominent topic in Revice, the central drama is by the people surrounding the Igarashi siblings. The build of the character design is beautiful in the show and conveys each character’s life experience and personality. However, the main storyline was written slowly in the middle to add a lot of suspense. It led to the collapse of the characters and the distinct rhythms before and after, which was unnecessary. The active promotion of the image of an ordinary family running a public bath and doing typical daily routines is to balance out the intensity of the Kamen Rider battle scenes and the demon exposition. There was enough time to develop the character and the storyline as the episodes passed. All the action sequences are fun and exciting to watch.

Star Power

Maeda Kentaro did a great job embodying the role of Ikki Igarashi. His acting added extra eminence to the drama.

Overall Opinion

It is a good show in the Kamen Rider series. But it might not be everyone’s cup of tea!
