Drama Digest
Otherwise known as Anoyo no Subete wa, Obake-gumi! the show takes place in a particular school for youkai, ghouls, and other supernatural beings. The story follows Rakuru, a vampire who transfers to the school from the West and hopes to change the school as the class representative. What shenanigans and misadventures await our colorful cast of characters? Watch the drama and find out.
The Feel-Good Part
The premise of monsters just living their daily lives and going to school, having fun, and making friends seem very wholesome and fun. It is always fun to see demonic or scary characters in a healthier light. It is fun to see how these dangerous creatures fare in the real world doing things we do on a typical day.
The Disappointing Factor
The storyline of a group of monsters, ghouls, and yokai in a school setting comes across as a bit derivative. It is certainly something we have seen before and in better quality and production. The animation of this show is very disappointing, to the point where it hinders any enjoyment one would have with the anime and storyline on its own. Moreover, it does not have much to offer to the genre of comedy or the genre of supernatural shows, which is very disappointing.
In-Depth Analysis
Anoyo no Subete wa, Obake-gumi! is a gag anime. It will not focus on other aspects such as animation, story, or anything else, but rather on attempts at humor and the use of characters for punch bags of this humor. While it can, at times, get this humor right, it is not something you can enjoy on its own or over an extended period.
Star Power
Amiru Amakawa directed the show. She also designed the characters for the show. She has been known for her specific 2D animation style and character designs that come across as a homage to older anime styles. Some of her most notable works include Waresho! Warera! Shoudoubutsu Aigo Iinkai and Eily wa O-sama.
Overall Opinion
There is not much to discuss with the show, so if you just want to pass the time and watch a gag anime, then you might like this show.
