Drama Digest

In 2024, a very prosperous and world-renowned game called <Infinite Dendrogram> was released. The game is the first successful full-drive VRMMO. Along with unique features and fantastic additions, it can simulate all five senses while playing it and promises to give players a great gaming experience and a world of possibilities. The anime follows Reiji Mukudori, a soon-to-be college freshman who can finally purchase the game two years after its release. With the help of his older brother, Shuu, and his partner, Embryo, Reiji is ready to embark on an adventure into the world where anything can happen and a world of <Infinite Possibilities>. What adventures await him in this virtual world? What will happen to him along the way? Watch the drama and find out.

The Feel-Good Part

The concept of a virtual reality game where you can live out all your wildest superhero dreams is auspicious. The show manages to introduce you to this world with a bunch of characters and scenic locations that leave you very intrigued. The show manages to stay lighthearted and fun throughout. It allows its viewers to end the show the way that they would enjoy it if they were playing the game themselves.

The Disappointing Factor

There’s a lot of potentials that it misses. There is not much risk to it, and because there is a lack of stakes in the game, it tends to feel a bit bland and slow. It is a stereotypical shounen anime that feels less like an intense nail-biting story and more like a play-along type anime. While the show uses the idea that anything is possible, it is unable to fit all these possibilities into one cohesive and enjoyable storyline.

In-Depth Analysis

Infinite Dendrogram is a standard fantasy shonen. It tries its best to create this world of many possibilities. At times it succeeds, and at others, it fails. There’s not much you can take out of this anime except the fantastic concept and colorful cast of characters.

Star Power

Souma Saitou plays the lead character of Reiji Mukudori in the show. Saitou gives an incredible voice-acting performance regardless of the generic nature of his character. He is known for starring in several popular anime, such as Haikyuu!!, Akame ga Kill!, IDOLiSH7 Vibrato, and so many more.

Overall Opinion

If you want to watch a fantasy shounen this might not be the one for you. There are several other anime that are more exciting to watch. But if you do watch Dendrogram, keep an open mind and enjoy it.
