Drama Digest

This animated drama series is about a girl named Arte who is the only daughter in her noble household. She is much ahead of her time and circumstances. The drama is placed in 16th century Florence, Italy, and depicts the time of cultural awakening and the life of Arte revolves around the same. Arte is blessed with an amazing talent for art and painting and she has an undying passion for her art. However, after her father’s demise, her mother persuades her to leave her art and marry a nobleman and lead a happy and comfortable life. Arte, on the other hand, refuses to do so, she refuses the ravages of the contemporary times and goes ahead to pursue her dream of becoming a painter. After a lot of disappointments, she finally meets Leo, who keeps her as an apprentice.

The Feel-Good Part

The part where, as audiences, we will feel good is the time when Leo suggests Arte accept the offer of tutoring yuri’s sister as it was something that could make her life better than the apprenticeship she was in Leo also feels a similarity between Arte and himself as he also worked against all odds to lead an independent life. He likes the fire in her.

The Disappointing Factor

One of the instances, when a customer tells Arte that he had no regard for the art pieces that he bought from Leo and his old master and just owned them keeping in mind-  his position in the society and the political arena, it was good for his image. This shows a double standard face of that time.

In-Depth Analysis

The drama tells about contemporary society in the 16th century. Women were expected to be soft and to be someone’s wife and  Arte was almost forced by her mother to marry a nobleman. It can be seen in one of the scenes that people were so astonished when Arte gathered and carried all the heavy things from the market all by herself. The drama shows certain similarities between Arte and Leo, and Arte and Katarina, and also a beautiful depiction of a love angle.

Star Power

The star power of the drama is Arte herself. The undying passion that she has for her craft keeps her going despite all the hurdles. Her headstrong attitude and never giving up approach are something that keeps the spectators hooked up. Certain instances show that she wants herself to be no less than men. When she refuses Angelo to help her carry heavy items from the market and when she plays a match with all the men. That attitude is the best part of the drama.

Over Opinion

All in all, Arte is worth watching and it is inspiring as the attitude and approach of art give us an inspiration to never give up and never be a slave to our circumstances.
