Jashin-chan Dropkick X is the third installation in the series of Jashin-chan Dropkick. The story revolves around Jashin-chan, who is a lamia. Jashin, translated as Evil God from hell. She was summoned by Yurine Hanazono, a college student and also a human witch. Jashin is unable to go back to hell even after, trying everything. She is forced to spend every day with Yurine trying to kill her but failing every single time.

The Feel-Good Part

The show Jashin-chan Dropkick X just like its previous installment, is a delightful watch. The show takes a unique angle with dark comedy, sarcasm, and satire. But the whole setting of the show with angels and demons and gods and Satan is what makes it unique and refreshing. The characters are hilarious together and carry the entire story.

The Disappointing Factors

Sadly, the most essential part of the show, the character of Jashin-chan and his arc in the story, is the biggest disappointment this season. The show had a great premise that somewhere got lost among the writer trying out new things. For most of the show’s length, Jashin-chan travels across Japan trying to earn ways to repay his debt. The show’s focus shifted entirely to this, and they forgot what the other characters were supposed to do in the meantime other than just giving reactions.

In-Depth Analysis

Jashin-chan Dropkick X is the third installation in the series of Jashin-chan Dropkick. The story around Jashin-chan, who is a lamia. Jashin, translated as Evil God from hell. She was summoned by Yurine Hanazono, a college student and also a human witch. Jashin-chan cannot return home because the corresponding spell was not in the summoning grimoire, Jashin-chan tries to fight her physically to free herself from her earthly shackles. But it is difficult because Yurine is also a strong person. She has tremendous physical strength and uses it in manways to assassinate Jashin-chan. Whether it’s putting her hand in a mixer, tossing her intestines across the room, or cooking her. While these actions would be lethal to anyone without the ability to regenerate, Jashin-chan proves through her movements repeatedly that she deserves it. Trapped together, Yurine lets Jashin-chan live with her in exchange for household chores in the apartment. Living together leads to situations where Jashin-chan ends up falling apart more often. The show is hilarious and takes quite a unique angle of dark humor and satire. The third season falters off from the classic tropes shown in the earlier seasons, but overall, it is a fun mindless watch for leisure time.

Star Power

The star power of the show is, again, the characters. All of the characters are so unique and refreshing that each of them has a different perspective and voice. Most of the show revolves around the interaction of the characters and how they respond to anything and everything Jashin-chan regularly does which, is redundant but hilarious.

Overall Opinion

Overall, Jashin-chan Dropkick X is certainly not for everyone. It has dark, often violent humor. Jashin-chan is mean and selfish enough to outdo Yurine, and her humorous interactions with old and new characters remain the core of the series. The characters are well-written, the production value is impressive, the comedy is energetic and hilarious, and the references and fourth wall breaks are entertaining.
