TV Show Digest

“Single’s Inferno” is a Netflix Korean reality dating series in which lovely individuals must find their match on a deserted island called Inferno. Song Ji-a, Shin Ji-yeon, Kang Seo-yeon, An Yea-won, Kim Su-min, and Seong Min-ji are the female candidates. Kim Hyun-joong, Oh Jin-taek, Moon Se-hun, Kim Jun-sik, Choi Si-hun, and Cha Hyun-seung are the male candidates. Because the competitors must keep their age and job hidden while on the island, they must match with others based on personality. Contestants ranged from personal trainers and boxers to Youtubers and K-pop dancers. The show features games in which competitors compete for the opportunity to go to Paradise, a high-end hotel where the matched couples stay but there’s a procedure to be followed. Each competitor gets “postcards” in a mailbox at the end of each day; if they choose to pair up with one of the senders (if they receive a postcard), the couple is taken to a luxurious resort on an island dubbed “Paradise.” The daters can open up about their ages and jobs there, and they have a romantic night in a luxurious room before returning to “Inferno.”

The Feel-Good Part

The four hosts, Lee Da-hee, Hanhae, Hong Jin-kyung, and Kyuhyun, are one of our favourite aspects of the show. Four well-known Korean comedians, actresses, and ex-K-pop celebrities respond to and critique the candidates and their relationships. During the cutaways, their responses, predictions, and comments were all quite relatable. The show’s twists made it much more entertaining, especially since the restrictions made it difficult to avoid turmoil. On Inferno, for example, players were not permitted to pick the same individual they had chosen the day before on the second day. This implies that even if someone believes they have discovered their soulmate, they must choose someone else and this was the best part of this show-the viewers get to see the sparks amongst all and there’s no bias.

The Disappointing Factor

The main drawback of the “Inferno” island is that it is extremely hot and has no air conditioning. It’s not like they have to build shelters for themselves – both the men’s and women’s tents appear to be “glamping” setups. The cafeteria resembles a farm-to-table restaurant and is equipped with everything required to prepare a nice meal from the food offered. The show could have introduced more games otherwise it was monotonous and bland.

In-Depth Analysis

There was drama and humour throughout the series. It didn’t feel scripted. Yes, passion was in the air and so was tension. The pacing is perfect you can say. It isn’t fast-paced and it grows on you gradually while not trying too hard to grab your attention. It doesn’t have crazy moments rather it’s more wholesome and beautiful. The beautiful part is that it warms your heart with mundane activities done by people you don’t know.

Star Power

The ensemble is definitely popular and attractive, thus luring in more viewers. The producers have done a great job at this.

Overall Opinion

It is a short and entertaining show which could do better in the activities aspect but besides that, it is a visually beautiful show that catches your breath asking for more.
