Drama Digest

Phantom Singer is a music competition that chooses Korea’s first male crossover quartet. It was praised for its gem-like ‘Gwihogang’ fusion music and for recognizing unheard musicians. Phantom Singer distinguishes itself from other audition show in that it does not pick a final solo artist, but rather a quartet ensemble.

This one is the season’s first global audition, the second is a larger music spectrum with participants from many genres, and the third is a new producer panel, all of which differ from the previous season.

Phantom Singer is Korea’s first cross-genre vocal audition, featuring outstanding vocalists with heavenly voices in a variety of genre of music, including vocal music, musicals, Korean music, and K-pop vocals. Season 3 had the biggest number of candidates (36) in the show’s history, with auditions held all around the world for the first time.

Season 3, which has been expanded, is expected to garner the same level of interest from fans as seasons 1 and 2.

The Feel-Good Part

The music, without a question, is the most enjoyable aspect of the event. The participants re-creating the songs in their own style is the season’s highlight. All of the contenders have distinct and attractive voices. Their exquisite singing abilities are a pleasure to our ears. The other contestants and the panel’s reactions to the performing group are fantastic. There is a sense of respect among the competitors. Instead of singing, the contestants act and perform.

Season 3 introduced four additional candidates due to the popularity of the first two seasons.

The Disappointing Factor

Due to the recent emergence of the viral coronavirus infection (COVID-19), it is especially challenging to do on-site performances that engage audiences this season. The lack of a live studio audience was a tremendous let-down, especially when there were outstanding performances.

In-Depth Analysis

Phantom Singer is a crossover vocalist audition designed to find the best potential male quartet. It offers vocal-based crossover music rather than ballads, dance, or trot.

Each competitor passes through the solo, duets, and trio stages during each season’s four rounds. Finally, three quartets compete in a championship match. The winning team will earn a prize of 100 million Korean won, as well as the option to record and distribute their own album under the Universal Music label internationally. They’ll also launch their career as a combination foursome, with tours and concerts to follow. The auditions aim to reach perfection in male voice harmony, working in a variety of genres including opera, musicals, and pop. In Korea, the format sparked “crossover syndrome,” and the Korean live show sold out in minutes.

It’s a show that’s always had a devoted following. Season 3’s success will be determined by how successfully they secured applications in the early rounds.

Star Power

Jeon Hyun-moo is the MC for the season. The six producers are Lee Yoon Sang, Kim Moon-Jung, Son Hye-Soo, Ock Joo-hyun, Kim Eana, Jiyong. Some of the contestants names are- You Chae Hoon, Choi Sung Hoon, Park Ki Hun, and Jeong min Seong.

Overall Opinion

The birth of the best K-crossover group will be led by JTBC’s ‘Phantom Singer 3’. The Phantom Singer is not limited to a single genre of music; rather, it is a well-rounded program that has broadened the horizons of crossover music, allowing you to sample a range of styles. It will be similar to a concert in which you will learn about uncelebrated Korean singers.
