Movie Digest

The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure also known as The Pirates: Goblin Flag is a 2022 hit movie starring Lee Kwang Soo, Han Hyo Jo, Oh Sehun from Exo, etc. The plot centers around a quest that takes place across the seas for the Goryeo royal family’s lost wealth, which has mysteriously vanished. To reclaim the lost wealth, the pirates are challenged against Bu Heung-Su.

The Feel-Good Part

As everything in this movie is different from the original Pirates film, this one stands out.

The visual effects are better than in the first film. This time, they showed a lot of CG effects, including fire, water, lighting, etc.

The film is very fascinating, with adventure in every scene, and the audience will be completely immersed in it due to the captivating tale. The leads have swoon-worthy chemistry, and the movie is quite amusing.

The Disappointing Factor

You will be disappointed if you are searching for a profound storyline with a twist, an unfamiliar fantasy film, or the leads’ backstories.

The movie should have had a better premise, as it appears to be a typical pirate story about looting and finding a treasure!

The Hardcore action moments, outstanding visual effects, brilliant lead performances, and humorous plots/funny solo renditions of the actors made it a worthwhile trade-off to call it a feel-good film.

In-Depth Analysis

“The Pirates: Goblin Flag” fills a fantastic niche as we’ve been lacking pirate movies. Not to mention that the protagonist looks like Jack Sparrow. A combat-experienced pirate who messes around and has their important events blown into obscurity only to have everything work out because of the plot and cool character.

The plot was intriguing. Treasure hunting was entertaining, as was the comedy that was included. Despite the tale being a little cliché at times, the basic style and such are all very Korean, but they integrated a lot of other styles, which is what made this movie so unique and original.

Star Power

Kang Haneul and Lee Kwangsoo played almost all of the comedic roles, and they both did an amazing job. The combat scenes were exciting for Han Hyo Jo.

None of the cast members performed poorly. Regardless of how big or tiny their parts were, everyone performed an excellent job. The battle sequences between   Kwon Sangwoo and Kang Haneul were fantastic.

The characters of Sehun and Chae Soo were lacking in depth as many were expecting the stars to have a better role. Kang Ha-neul did an excellent job in his role, and deserved his best actor accolades. I’m hoping for a more detailed account of how they attempted to cross the seas.

Overall Opinion

If you’re looking for an adventurous Pirate Themed film, with a huge amount of action, comedy, and a dash of romance, then This movie is worth a try. With Excellent direction, cast, and a pick-me-up action story, we highly recommend you to watch it. Now Streaming on Netflix.
